So, it's not as simple of an approach as it looks. Nothing about economics is ever simple or clear, except for centrally-planned economies never working in the long run.

Again, the ideal solution is to make immigrant worker programs that mimic illegal immigration (GOP won't do it), if not enforce laws against companies (GOP hasn't done it effectively)...and regardless know that the GOP want to keep the status quo and stoke fear for political purposes.
Folks must understand this is all on the GOP.

If you watch the news about the economic impact for the immigration tightening, you clearly see that the most affected group are R and/or dumy supporters. The highest percentage being farmers (who also benefit a LOT from government support, even for doing nothing.... but that's not welfare...). Next are the industrial food groups from other areas. And who do you think hires all of the illegals for their home gardening work??? Rich republicans.
Which is more to say- if you go after the businesses, you also go after more R's than D's. So that's not going to happen.
From a manipulation standpoint, assuming the borders get back opened up a little, and illegal immigration starts back up again, the biggest effect will be the lowering of wages of the illegals. So that the food people can profit even more from their illegal workers.
