POTUS 45.41: We Need More Tax Cuts to pay for the Tax Cut

Re: POTUS 45.41: We Need More Tax Cuts to pay for the Tax Cut

Is there a D governor out there with any 2020 gusto? I've said before I prefer former governors; I'd like someone with prior "top executive of the executive branch" experience to see how they'll handle the "buck stops here" pressure situations.

Thank you!!! I've been pushing for that for a few years. The Midwest is preferred.

Meh, we heard the same thing when Obama ran about electing a black man. Anybody who excites the Dem base and gets them to turn out, whether they be male, female, black, white, brown or something in between is going to be in a strong position to win due to sheer numbers. There's more Dem leaners than GOP leaners. If you can get the Dems to turn out as Obama did you win.

Agreed. Right now Harris is my bet but we wont know anything for a year. It could be someone we arent thinking of.

People dont hate most of these people as much as they hate Clinton. You can pretend that isnt relevant but it is.

That name is a dog-whistle to the right, and probably more than we know on the left (BernBros), that it's an anchor.

If he wins, I don't see him running two years into his term. If he loses by a point or two in Texas, he still exceeded expectations in a red state and has wide national appeal.

If he wins zero chance he runs. Same deal with Gavin Newsome (who I think would crush in 2020) who will only be 2 years into his term as Governor.

If he loses I dont see him having much momentum as a national office holder. Might be a cabinet person though.

Well, then it shouldn't have been a lock.

No it should have been. Anyone but her would have walked away with it. And despite the hate of her she still only lost because of a few thousand voters in 3 states.

LOL

We'll see what happens when they nominate another Kerry or Gore this time. Or maybe 400 year old Bernie will get it.

Hickenlooper?

If the answer is Avenetti the D's should just fold up their tent and go home.

I think it depends largely on the political climate in two years, but it seems like D's are likely to run into a problem that R's have had for some time, which is that the far wing of the party is so active in the primaries, a candidate with the potential for broad national appeal gets pushed aside. Or at least has to run to the fringes so far to get through it creates difficulties in defending their stances to the national audience. i.e. that selfie kneeling at Lenin's tomb can turn from awesome to problematic later on in the gen election.

Also, I lived in Newburyport briefly several years ago. Nice town.

Let's play this in reverse...

If the answer is Trump the R's should just fold up their tent and go home.

So, remind me again how poorly that all went for the R's?
