Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Donald Trump says US not committed to two-state Israel-Palestine solution

It's clear when listening to Trump use his words he has no fricking idea what he believes because he's clueless:

Really? You're looking at a "two-state and a one-state"? Does he even know what that means? And you're really happy with the one they both like? In other words you don't have an informed opinion on the subject at all.

It's going to be great. The biggest deal ever and my people will deliver I assure you.

Seriously God - why?

This level of willful ignorance in areas of foreign policy such as the the Occupied Territories is why he is just plain ********** dangerous.

But hey, Clinton killed an ambassador . . . .

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Drew, can you admit you are a moron for voting for this orange piece of ****?

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Alex Jones also says the Colorado College Tigers hockey team is a bunch of federal agents from USAFA scouting out the occupation in places like Grand Forks and Duluth, so even you underestimate the scope of the problem. Alex Jones cares about you, flaggy, which is a good thing, since he may make the drive over from his place in Old Greenwich someday and see you during visitation hours.

Come on- get beyond Trade 101. Based on your posts, I'd figure that you were a free trade person. Which you would WANT fair trade.

I am. That's why I don't understand getting tied to someone else's rules. You make it your way; they make it their way; the market picks the one it wants. Someone wins; someone loses. The loser has two choices: adapt or keep losing.

No, you don't understand that making a product at one standard is cheaper and more profitable.

You are focusing only on the regulatory area that you fear, not the one where the US can take advantage of. Which is the point of the EO.

It's the same as if we got rid of all the fuel blends in the US, fuel would be cheaper to make AND cars would be better since they won't have to deal with so many fringe fuels.

You seem to think that lowering our regulations would be better for jobs, which isn't true for a long standing, huge, and even market we have here.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I wonder if Mr. Trump's immigration EO would've been better received in the European parliament.

Drawing on a unique, new Chatham House survey of more than 10,000 people from 10 European states, we can throw new light on what people think about migration from mainly Muslim countries. Our results are striking and sobering. They suggest that public opposition to any further migration from predominantly Muslim states is by no means confined to Trump’s electorate in the US but is fairly widespread.

In our survey, carried out before President Trump’s executive order was announced, respondents were given the following statement: ‘All further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped’. They were then asked to what extent did they agree or disagree with this statement. Overall, across all 10 of the European countries an average of 55% agreed that all further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped, ...

The graph of the data (link below) is stunning.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

You do realize that Middle East immigration is TOTALLY different for the EU and the US, don't you?

Can't walk to the US.

Oh, I understand supporting ump-teem flavors of a product is expensive and a gigantic pain in the < bleep >. I've done it because of poor management and sales decisions.

If I have to live to a standard I want to be sure that I have recourse to getting that standard changed. That's my concern. A US standard written by Congress I have recourse via my elected officials and the courts. Beyond that (meaning international standards written by bureaucrats) recourse options become less and less. That's my concern. The more layers between the standard and you the less influence you have in improving it. That's my concern.

I've written code to support everything from ISO14230 to SAE J1939 and worked with those standards committees. I've seen how the sausage is made. < cringe > That is surely shading my (admittedly cynical and skeptical) views.

Yeah, I can read a map.
I've been to four of the countries in their survey data.

That survey says more than 50% of surveyed Euros would shut the door to "mainly Muslim" countries. There's no mention of "extreme vetting". They'd shut the door. That puts them to the right of even Trump's EO.

Frankly, I'm surprised by that.

One last thing, treaties can not be unilaterally changed. So when the other country changes things, it does not change ours. That's how treaties and contracts work.

And since they have to be passed by congress, you would still have that path.

Doesn't seem like it based on your posts.

Just sayn.

I'm not. Fear overwhelms every other human emotion. That does not mean public policy should be determined solely by emotion.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I was talking to my dad last night and I asked him if he's ever seen a more chaotic time in his life.

He said that other administrations were pretty crazy in heir first year. Reagan was one he specifically said. But he said he doesn't remember this much fear and chaos since 1968.

We love to talk about our "smooth transitions of power", but they always have their "non-continuities". (That's the nice word for fits, spurts, and major potholes.)

No way this is true, surely they would be better at hockey if there was a massive cover up underway.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

... at least one Western European ally intercepted a series of communications before the inauguration between advisers associated with President Donald Trump and Russian government officials, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.

Didn't it come out that US SIGINT/ELINT was monitoring Euro leaders including Merkel et al during the Obama and Bush administrations?

I'd guess the NATO allies spend as much time monitoring each other as the other side.

Spies gonna spy.
