I’d like to ask my usual question here- what would have happened if obama had threatened to revoke clearances of people who didn’t agree with him on everything?

We seem to be missing conservative opinions in here lately since a lot of things really jumped the shark. I know Brent was on vacation but Brent isn’t one defending most of these asinine ideas anyway

Many of the career employees serve on various boards within the various security agencies after leaving. So they need the clearances. That was explained on NPR this morning.

The problem with trump -- and a problem that is absolutely never going to be solved -- is that every one of his supporters believe the verbal diarrhea that spews forth the entire time his mouth is open. Couple that with the fact that 90% of the republicans in the House and Senate won't even SPEAK ill of trump, let alone do anything about him. If we're lucky, enough people with a functional brain cell or two will be voting this November to remake congress. If that happens, we can at least return to the slower pace of suicide our society was engaging in in recent decades. If republicans hang on to both houses of congress (with tampering and -- especially -- voter suppression this is extremely possible and I think probable) it means we are well and truly fvcked. To me, if the republicans manage to hold on in November it will signal to me our democracy is truly dead.

Sadly, even if rational people manage to flip congress and trump is completely neutered, it still leaves in place a huge number of people (probably at least a third of the adults) who won't believe THAT election was legitimate. And those are the people with most of the guns. This country is going to be a mean and ugly place to live no matter who wins the elections for another generation at least. And that's even IF the good guys win.

It's scary to see local election ads touting who is the better supporter of the moron in the white house. So there are a LOT of people who buy into this crap, and enjoy being dropped to the bottom of the barrel.

We may see the stuff going on in Georgia- as that's national news, but here in Michigan, they are bragging on who is the more real supporter of dumpy. Amazing.
