Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

Flag provides a service. Whenever joe et al insist that we can only win by bending over for disaffected Trump voters, think of trying to lead Flag to any statement of fact contrary to his Kochgramming.

Those people will be Republican serfs until the day they die. They have been thoroughly hoodwinked. There is no way back for any of them. Let them go; there is no future at all there.

Well said.

First media timeout during the second period, right? Just like the contrived "salute" at every other hockey rink, because veterans are certainly the only Americans worthy of a salute for their service during a hockey game.

Certainly a lot cheaper than actually supporting their physical and mental health.

Homeless? Thank you for your service.
Lost limbs? thank you for your service
complete mental meltdown? thank you for your service.

Makes me sick that's the best we can do. And it's people like flag that suggests that actually supporting our military vets is bad, since it's socialized medicine.

How do you sleep at night thinking that vets don't deserve care?

Literally couldn't care less. In fact, if it was true it would at least finally kill off the "Third Way" being in command of the DNC. So that would be a plus.

National guard officially sent to the southern border!!

Great idea, but not far enough! Kim Jong Trump - bad hair, orange face, and all - should be frowning down upon our living rooms, just like Glorious North Korea.

The district includes Staten Island, and his Trumpster primary challenger served a prison term? That sounds 100% right.

Did fake news really cost Clinton the 2016 election?
And does Alanis Morissette find it ironic that for all of trump's bi tch ing and moaning about fake news, it turns out it may have actually gotten him elected?
I think it will be interesting to see, over the course of the coming decades, the effect of stories and studies like this one.

We've now spent 18 months and counting trying to figure out the extent to which "fake news" influenced the outcome of the election. Personally I think it's a bit silly and a waste of time. It's not going to change the election. Plus, elections everywhere, including in this country, have always had a "fake news" component. It used to be that we just called it disinformation, "dirty tricks" or getting "Willie Hortoned." Any voter who has not been aware of that component candidly deserves to be suckered.

But I believe the more time we spend discussing "fake news" role in the election, the more mainstream news stories that are published on it, the more studies that are done and published, will only cause "fake news" to have a greater impact on future elections, not lessen the impact through exposure.

There will be so many stories on "fake news" that many voters are just going to be left with the conclusion that it exists everywhere, that much of what they are reading is "fake" and they will, as a default, tend to believe only those stories that seem to confirm their preexisting beliefs or biases.

I think you are right. You are also right in saying "fake news" is nothing new in politics.

That said, I think Trump has consciously pushed the narrative as a proactive defense of his own false statements, which have been open and constant. He hasn't shown much evidence of being smart, but his fake news narrative has been smart. Possibly nothing more than instinct, but it will serve him well.
