Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

So a couple of thinking points...

Putting troops on the Mexico border- why does that seem SO much like Putin putting troops on the Ukraine border? Illegal border crossings are down, massively from 12 years ago, but we need to mass troops on the border for some reason? How is Mexico militarily threatening us??? Are we going to have to move in there for some reason? One thing- if we don't solve the issues in Central America- the refugees from there trying to get help here will pile up in Mexico, which will cause them a mass of headaches. And perhaps justify the tweeter in chief to intervene since he's got people on the border.

Terrible.

Syria, and pulling out. Sounds good on paper, since, in theory, ISIS is no longer there. But the reason we were there was not ISIS, it was to help the situation on the ground- which CLEARLY not stable. Basically, we are giving Syria to vlad and his shooting up buddies. Which also feeds into the instability in the EU, thanks to MORE people becoming refugees.

We've already handed the Pacific trading zone to China, we are giving more and more to Vlad in the middle east. What's next?

Why is this moron degrading our international standing so badly???

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

I’m so glad my job doesn’t depend largely on trade from China.

Oh wait...

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

I'd be willing to put a good chunk of money on the fact that Trump couldn't even explain what having a trade deficit means.

Mexico, no. ISIS "migrants" coming through Honduras funded by the UN, yes. Evidently the "caravan" hasn't made it to CNN; they must still be obsessed with Russia.

He probably thinks it's the same thing as a budget deficit, that it means the government is losing money, and it can be directly fixed through congress/emperor.

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

So, is Trump literally trying to destroy the US economy with the Tariff's and this Amazon thing? And why would he want to do that? I don't get it.

Well he wants WaPo dead. He probably also wants to start his own online sales deal and tanking Amazon is a nice way to do that.

He doesnt care about the economy...he cares about Trump.

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

This is the time to really stick it to the trump voters. I'm starting to hope we go into a recession. The market tanks, I shove more money into the market. I get more money when it rebounds after we get a stable president.

That is what I am waiting for. The correction is coming the signs are all there.

How people who thought a guy who couldnt even keep a casno in the black could run the economy I will never know. I want to feel bad for hem but every farmer who voted for Trump can sleep in the bed they made.

I'm ready. And the one sector that is protected is defense, so I've got security.

Bed? They're going to lose their houses. I still don't think they'd learn.

Flag provides a service. Whenever joe et al insist that we can only win by bending over for disaffected Trump voters, think of trying to lead Flag to any statement of fact contrary to his Kochgramming.

Those people will be Republican serfs until the day they die. They have been thoroughly hoodwinked. There is no way back for any of them. Let them go; there is no future at all there.

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

The 5h!tstorm that has been happening the last few days (trumps war on Amazon/WaPo, troops to the Mexican border, bubbling up trade war with China) would be fun to watch if the only people who stand to be hurt were trump voters. I've gone to the dark side where they are concerned. In November of 2016 I feared the trump voters would be hurt, but now I think I want the trump voters to be hurt. We don't learn our lessons in this society with the ease with which we should. It took hundreds of thousands of people dying before we strengthened and enforced drunk driving laws or made something as simple as wearing a seatbelt mandatory.

So I guess we need farmers everywhere to lose their homes, coal miners everywhere to suffer black lung disease like never before, firefighters and others who were first responders at the 9-11 sites to die at alarming rates of cancers and lung diseases. These people all voted overwhelmingly for trump. Sadly, they will not be the only ones paying an ultimate price for their vote. For those who feared trump might actually be the one to start a nuclear war, I'm not sure as a species we deserve any better. The faster we become extinct, the faster something else will have a chance to make something of the Earth.

Or instead, we could, you know, all vote for responsible candidates in the next election. There are still enough of us who aren't having our votes suppressed to make a difference. We've got perhaps 2 elections left where we can stave off the worst. Paraguay does not have the wherewithal as a nation to destroy the world, but the U.S. does. Good luck humans. Make the next couple of Novembers count.

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

Miserable people are angry and afraid and vote Republican. Republican policies increase misery. It's a simple machine.

We'll break it the way we did in 1932: win elections and institute the strongest liberal policies we can get through to reduce misery. That will deprive the Republicans of the votes they need to push through their policies.

As long as we protect our democratic institutions we have the power to push back the darkness. Obviously they are also working to destroy our institutions: the press, the independent judiciary, education, broadcast and the internet, facts themselves. So we have to protect and strengthen those and we have to all do whatever we can to drive these orcs back into their slime pit for another generation.

There are way, way more of us than them. They are driven by the whip of their masters while we are free to act on our own, so it is harder for us, but we have to outwork them. Like the Greeks under Pericles, we have to defeat the Persian slave army.

In 2008 in the midst of the great recession, it appeared that the Republicans would be blown out for a generation. Even I threw a sympathy vote towards a local rep...because I truly believe in a healthy opposition. However it was stunning how the lessons didn't stick or more likely just received lip service. 'W mistakes were unique to him and/or were the fault of others.'

Do not expect any lessons from Trump. The best that can be hoped for is a short term uprising that tilts the balance slightly in favor of the Dems...and/or a long term demographic shift that is enough to overcome built in R political advantages.

You forgot to add the veterans, and their lack of health and mental care.

but we can thank them at the Frozen Four tomorrow. And you can get a blanket to show that you care....

First media timeout during the second period, right? Just like the contrived "salute" at every other hockey rink, because veterans are certainly the only Americans worthy of a salute for their service during a hockey game.
