POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

How would the public having guns change any of that?

Honestly- how?

Do you really think that you and your buddies can fight a battle against even National Guard troops?

Or do you think we should have an armed insurrection? And what does that look like? People with guns should just go out and shoot people who don't agree with them?

The "claim" of having guns to overthrow something is kind of insane if you ask me.

Or is it just the romantic idea that you can theoretically do that? Once you do an real, shooting, armed take over of anything, you will be brought down by many, many, many more guns that you have. So you die in a blaze of your own "glory".

I never want to see an armed insurrection or anyone try to overthrow the government. That is the nightmare scenario in my opinion. I do think citizens having guns is better than not having anything and is a small check on government.

I think without it you would see local police departments be a lot more abusove to people. I’ve seen people on the left claim that if citizens didn’t have guns police wouldn’t need them either but I doubt that would ever happen.

Re: POTUS 45.30: "Stormy Weather...It Keeps on Rainin' all the Time..."

Given these facts why would you want to take away guns from people?

uh, the people with all the guns(*) are the ones turning the country into a **** hole. they are the ones we need to take it back from

(*)I mean the "gun humpers" 2nd amendment worshipers that own 90% of the guns

Specifically, HOW?

All I see is an arms race between citizens and the police. Guns have no check on government at all.

The only reason police have reduced abuse to the public is though court orders, not by an armed public. If you are going to suggest that theory, at least back it up. It's pretty easy to come up with federal cases where the police were slapped around by some part of the justice system due to abusing the public. Last I checked, guns are far less used against agents of our government vs against other citizens. By a HUGE margin. Seems to me that you are buying into someone's agenda to believe that anyone thinks that disarming police will disarm the public.

Again, that theory defies logic. No way do guns intimidate anyone from doing anything in government, except for the police to be more and more armed.

when the government comes to your door, please, make your stand against this oppressive over-reach of authority, barricaded down with your guns. let us know the results.

You know what's even funnier? We're still seeing "F da Po-lice" reactions immediately after the same people want their guns taken away.

Overthrow of the government is definitely a last resort. If anything, Trump is setting a very good example with North Korea. Diplomacy first.

Then perhaps you should look at the Hitler, Stalin, and Mao regimes where the guns were confiscated, and then the abuse of power came. Sure, you can claim there's a check with the courts, but what happens when that's no longer under your control? You have nothing left. It's only a matter of time before the same happens in Australia.

I see you think there's a bunch of wild west shootouts going on. Weapons are only not used on either side because it's a sort of stalemate case. Both sides are waiting for the other to fire first. Nobody sane wants that impotence on them. And neither side wants to give them up because they know they lose whatever defensive measures they have, whether citizenry or government, specifically because there's no guarantee to trust the other side. And yet, for the longest time before all this fear-mongering started at the end of WWII, we all seemed to live peacefully and happily.

"She rolled her eyes when I asked her about the progress Trump had made on the War on Christmas. She doesn’t celebrate the holiday, she told me. Trump, I reminded her, claimed that as a society, “We’re saying Merry Christmas again.”

“I really didn’t alter how much I do or don’t say Merry Christmas” when Trump became president, she said."

That had to be satire, right?

This guy can't actually think there's a war on Christmas, right?

Of course he can. There is a whole cottage industry out there that believes in the War On Christmas. If O'Reilly was still on the air it would have more gumption than it does now but it's out there.

no, they actually do. you know liberals cannot say the words, don't you?

yep. no weapons fired at Waco. Ruby Ridge. none at all.

Just patriotic Americans standing up and forcing the fascist arm of the government to back down.

Sooo.....given that most of the German people supported Hitler, and his military ran roughshod over all of continental Europe, you think that a few armed German citizens in opposition to him would have prevented WW2?

Okaaaayyyy then. :D
