Maher had Tomi Lahren on last night, and she's every bit as airheaded as we knew she was. She contributed literally nothing to the discussion other than cheerleading for Cheeto Benito, and giving Jason Kander the eye. Even the other Republican on the panel, Rick Wilson, treated her with open contempt.

Mistaken assumption made in 2016. All the so called reasonable righties wouldn't vote for Trump (even if they didn't vote for Hil, they'd vote 3rd party). And then....they ALL went out and voted for Trump. There are no reasonable people who still call themselves Republican. The party has become more like a cult, which his why they tend to get the same amount of votes in Presidential election, only relying on lazy Dems to keep them in power.
Regarding fake news, its now become the central pillar of the right. Its always been there, but now its first and foremost. Behind it is the same theme: people (generally non-white) are getting stuff for free and not working. The stereotype is the immigrant who arrives in this country and heads for the welfare office immediately. The stoner kid living in his mom's basement smoking weed who wants free tuition so he can take English lit courses.
The problem Dems make is they try to counter each fake story, thus setting up a whack-a-mole situation. Can't do that. Impeachment fight needs to be the template. Don't go after every single story of Clinton banging interns. Go after the people making the accusations and point out either their motivations (usually getting money from right wing groups) or hypocrisy (having their own affairs, paying for their mistresses abortions, etc).

The Right understands that for many, if not most, people there are no corroborated news stories, only competing ones. The hue and cry over fake news does not affect them in the least. I have no idea what the percentage is, but it is growing, and it's scary.

You know, I've been wondering. Who had ultimate control over the USMS? I know it's the justice department so obviously they report up through the AG. But do they follow the AG or the district judges when conflicting orders come out?
