Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Oh god, this is rich.

Orrin Hatch said:
I’m very disappointed in this kind of crap. … Some of this is because they just don’t like the president.
Orrin Hatch said:
This is the most pathetic thing I’ve seen in my whole time in the United States Senate

Really, Orrin? That? And sitting on a president's SCOTUS nominee for a year isn't?

Why do we need to "save" anything? Just block everybody but Mattis and Flynn. The rest are f-ckwits, and the fact that there are worse f-ckwits doesn't make them any less f-ckwits.

Kill em all; God will know His own.

Flynn is probably the worst of them all! ANd I don't think he had to be confirmed.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Millennials are "invincible" (or so they think), so they don't need health care. They also don't trust other people with their money, especially after the crash of 2008, or they think it's the vice of "gambling", so they don't want 401(k)s. They also live in the here and now, not in the future.

True of every generation ever. And as with every generation ever, they will change. Because there is no such thing as a "generation." It's a marketing label. People in sufficient numbers are all the same.

With malice towards none. With charity for all. C'mon Kep, you're better than that.

This is something I constantly harp on the Millenials for allowing. The company will roll out soft benefits like flexible Fridays, work from home, flexible hours, provide smart phones, etc. placating the Millenials who love these kinds of things. But then they will rollback things like reducing our 401(k) matching, eliminate retiree medical benefits, greatly increase deductibles and premiums on health care and the Millenials barely bat an eye.

Studies have come out that say Millenials prefer the flexible workspace benefits over hard benefits like salary, 401(k), medical. I just don't get it.

It's pathetic.

If you ever get a chance read the book 'Disrupted' by Dan Lyons. It was so good I read it in one sitting.

I'm sure the riote- er "protesters" in Portland would be willing to help you take out some of that aggression...

The guy warning about everybody else being led by the nose is the guy being led by the nose.

They've got you so good it would be funny if it weren't so... nah, it's funny.

This schtick is beyond old. While you may feel it's safe to say everything you spew around your grandchildren's precious ears, the meaning behind your words will leave them ashamed.

So DeVos made it through committee. Why, again, are the Dems boycotting Mnuchin while letting DeVos sail through?

Can the democrats actually stop anyone without republican help?

This does surprise me though, only because even some conservatives I know don't want her anywhere near schools.

I don't know. It sounds like they are blocking the votes like the GOP did in 2013 for Obama's EPA nominee. I'm guessing they can block using this method, but I'm kind of torn on whether the ends justify the means. If they can get better nominees, then yes, they are justified.

DeVos is a critical threat to the DOE. Price is a critical threat to HHS. Fracky McOilface is a critical threat to the EPA. These are the ones that need to be targeted.

Thanks to Harry Reid and senate democrats the democrats cannot stop nominees. Trump's Supreme Court nominee can be stopped though.

This is true, but it seems like you are talking about the 60 votes necessary in the full Senate hearing. In committee, this might be a different case.

I think they are saying ditch people like Hillary and bring in new blood. I agree it is the best way forward.

I think if you dig back, Kepler and I (and it wasn't limited to us, I just remember the conversations he and I had) were pretty clear about needing to develop young blood in the Democratic party.
