POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

Re: POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

Well, now everyone is thoroughly focused on the next stupid thing he has said what is it he wants us to be distracted from?

The guy is easily better than like 10 currently starting QBs though. Indy, Houston, Jax, Cleveland, Miami, Baltimore, MN w/ injured Bradford, Jets, and that's just what instantly comes to mind. If these teams wanted to get better in the short term they almost certainly could.
IF that's true (big if, you're probably comparing a hot streak of years ago to what he could do coming in cold) then I'd have to assume those owners have calculated they'd lose revenue/ticket sales above what they'd gain by increased wins by starting him. That's business, and he should accept that as a potential consequence of becoming an activist. Again, I respect him for doing it but don't cry about the blowback. Nobody can be forced to hire him just because some fans think he'd be an upgrade at QB or they like his politics.
Another thing you guys haven't considered is locker room chemistry/team spirit/all that jazz. Do you want someone in there, at an important position, that's all caught up in sticking it to the man rather than doing his job? Why? What's to gain? Let him protest on his own time. Nobody can be forced to give him a stage. Go buy your own stage, this is a football team.
I'm just sick of hearing about it. Nobody owes him one of the highest paid jobs in the world just because he has a cause.

I haven't really heard him complaining (could have missed it). I have heard other players complaining. I imagine they are considering the implications if they stay silent. Even when he was part of a team it seemed as if the nutjobs were much more visible than he was. THey were the ones creating all the press. He made statements but until people lost their stuff I don't think he was on a massive publicity push (again, I may have missed it). I saw him interviewed about it only after people were so reactive and saying all sorts of crazy stuff. They were the ones who created the stage. If they ignored it nothing big would have happened IMHO.

Do we really think the jaguars or browns would lose money by having a more successful team? Or most teams for that matter? I kinda have my doubts. Now coming in cold and learning a playbook with no training camp you might have a point . My evaluation of him has more to do with how bad his quality of teammates is and what he was able to do offensively with them.

The other thing you need to realize is that there is probably at least one Kaepernick on every team, there's a lot of black players and many accept his message I would guess.

Someone posted on Twitter what Obama said about this issue. Boy I miss him.

Re: POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

There's a far larger one in Green Bay.

cc: trix - NFL owners are in the business of winning. If Kap could help a team win right now he'd be starting for them.
All pro sports are in the business of making money. That doesn't always mean they have to win. Saw this first hand in Hockey where players with up-down contracts playing well, have better numbers than the guy who has the NHL contract but get sent down for a few games- just to keep them at lower pay.

Re: POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

It's not to keep them at lower pay per se - there's more strategy involved than just that. And "playing well" doesn't automatically equate to "helping them win". And yes I'm fully aware they're in it to make money that point obfuscates the bigger picture.

Look - the Vikings did everything they could to make it work with AP despite the fact he beat his own son and they took a lot of s**t for playing him. How many NFL players with major crimes were still allowed to play even after a suspension if there was one? Pro franchises would just as soon break another's neck than collude against a player that could supposedly help one of them win, not to mention all the major pro leagues have lightning rods in their mix.

I'm sorry but Kap has not not earned at least one single job anywhere in the league because he took a knee. Give me a break.

Yeah it doesn't pass the smell test. In Detroit we had Suh stomping people that were down a few years ago. Miami saw that and gave him a raise as a free agent. Citizenship has never been an issue beyond the team you're playing for.
I think it's great if more players put the anthem in its proper silly place, but give me a break with the "blacklisted" conspiracy theory.
Edit: I just read about the Fuhrer's comments, and think it would be great if every player took a knee tomorrow.

He could and he's not so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As for blacklisted or whatever, it's probably a combination of that issue and him wanting starter money. It doesn't have to just be the knee, teams might not currently have th cap space.

And you can't really compare this to AP or all the other crap NFL players pull because it's still currently garnering attention unlike those issues.

(Pub. L. 105–225, Aug. 12, 1998, 112 Stat. 1263; Pub. L. 110–417, [div. A], title V, § 595, Oct. 14, 2008, 122 Stat. 4475.)

There are absolutely zero laws that prescribe or require what a person must to do when the anthem is played. None of these guidelines in the codes are enforceable as requirements. The laws about speeding (and everything else we normally think about as "laws") all have language that compels us to do (or not do) something (You must not go faster than than 60 MPH on this stretch of the road) AND a list of the penalty or penalties you face if convicted of failing to follow the commanded behavior ($100 fine for going 61 MPH or faster). The flag or anthem codes are the equivalent of an honorary degree.

When AP pulled his stunt it got a s**t-ton of attention for a very long time and the Vikings took a lot of s**t for keeping him. And you and I both know we could find several other examples of similar stature.

Didn't Kap have a contract he just walked away from?

Re: POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

Welp, out Twitterer-In-Chief just got done twooping this morning:

@realDonaldTrump: If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!
@realDonaldTrump: ...NFL attendance and ratings are WAY DOWN. Boring games yes, but many stay away because they love our country. League should back U.S.

So glad he clarified the empty seats at Rams and Chargers games are because those brave fans have taken a stand against kneeling.

Never before has the US president himself compelled me to purchase "stars-n-stripes" toilet paper. Now the jack wagon is ruining sports. How is that even possible, among all the infinite ways he could pick a stupid and unwinnable battle?
Although if he does have a conflict compulsion it beats lobbing nukes at Australia.

Re: POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

That so many NFL owners are coming out to condemn trump's latest gas-baggery is further proof that not enough people care about injustice until it comes knocking on their front door. The president is criticizing their product so they are all up in arms.

Re: POTUS 45.19: Being Douced by Irma makes me sad!!

Steelers say they will stay in the locker room rather than participate in national anthem today against Chicago.
