While you are correct that legislatively nothing is getting done which is good, the truth is everything else he is doing is causing just as much harm. Honestly speaking I think all Republicans would have had had the same issues he did with the stuff he tried to get passed. No one was getting ObamaCare repealed...

Trump does what Republicans claim to want to do but don't intend to do because it's rock stupid.

That is, evidently, what passes for "integrity" now.

Yep. Trump doesnt get that the role of a politician is to promise the world to satisfy the screamers then when you get in office do what the actual facts tell you is the right decision. For all the saber rattling over ObamaCare the only ones who actually wanted it repealed were the Far Right Loonies who hate government. (yet they still work for it...funny) The rest of the GOP would rather make money railing against it.

Now if only the Democrats could learn how to play the game...they could trounce these guys. Problem is Democrats play to "do their best" they dont play for keeps.

The only "good" to come out of the Chump Presidency thus far is that it's exposed reliable Republican voters for who they really are, and GOP officeholders for who they really are. Republican voters are a collection of bigots, white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, and broken down old hypocrites. GOP officeholders are cowardly sniveling weasels who stand for nothing except tax cuts for billionaires and would ally themselves with terrorist organizations if they thought it would help getting corporate and top level rates reduced.

None of these people will change. The only thing that will is if left leaning voters show up next year, and two years after that, and two years after that and so on and so forth, instead of participating in one election every dozen or so years.

Democrats come out of academia where the goal is the pursuit of truth. Republicans come out of business where the goal is the pursuit of money. Their relative success reflects the relative importance placed by the culture on those things respectively.

It is no surprise that Republicans win a lot.

Didn't like 25% of Hillary primary voters vote for McCain?

Good thing that election wasn't nearly as close due to the Dems selecting a horrible candidate! If only the Dems learn and stop doing this Republican lite thing...

Well, one other thing could change. The Democratic party could start running candidates who don't actively disgust half the people who would consider voting for us given half a chance. The Democratic party could realize they are selling a product, not delivering an edict to be obeyed with downcast eyes.

Stop putting poison on the counter and demanding that it's a moral obligation to swallow it. That's not leadership, it's Jonestown.

This is very true. We're about to see what America is actually made of.

If the outcomes to the 2018 midterms are the typical ones where the president's party loses a few seats, or maybe even more than a few and that is the extent of it, then it proves the worst of what I fear. But if we're an actual thinking and open minded group of people, like the optimists seem to want to believe, then the 2018 midterms should be a wave election. republicans will be swept out of power in places from one corner of the country to the other. I'm not holding my breath. And this is beside the fear that our elections are not on the up-and-up.

I'm not sure those are separable effects. The problem now is the elections are obviously being tilted by the GOP officials. The question is is it truly a "rigging" or just a nuance?

Nobody hates Hillary. Nobody hates Gore or Kerry. But they were sh-t candidates. When a product doesn't sell don't blame the consumers.

Only the Democrats could lose an election and conclude the problem is the voters.

I just think if we want to learn from mistakes then looking at how the DNC ran things (the primary process, DWS emails, who they select to ran) is a better place to start than blaming those on the left/3rd party voters.
