POTUS 45.17 - Section 4 of Amendment 25

Re: POTUS 45.17 - Section 4 of Amendment 25

McAuliffe only won VA because the GOP found an even worse candidate to run. To go further, he only won the primary because no one else wanted it. He's the placeholder of all placeholders. Literally a sack of wet flour would have been as acceptable as long as it kept The Cooch out of the Governor's mansion.

It was close, though. Too close. He basically beat Sarah Palin. It was a close call and the Libertarian won it for him.

Re: POTUS 45.17 - Section 4 of Amendment 25

The libertarian actually got him over the line. I think the primary would be tougher for him than the general election.

Sorry, because it took 3rd party votes for him to beat a far-right nutjob in a moderate purple state, you think he'll cruise in a national general election?

He's one of those candidates who looks great from the other side. Like how Democrats always thought Jack Kemp would make a good candidate for the GOP, or Republicans always thought Evan Bayh would make a great one for the Dems.

The things about a candidate that make them acceptable to the opposition party are exactly the things that make them a terrible candidate in the primaries. Obviously the opposition respect an opponent who is just Them Lite.

Against Trump, absolutely. The powers that be in the Democratic Party love him, he used to run it back in the day. He would play very well in the states like PA, MI, and WI. I wouldn't be shocked if he pulled off FL and NC as well. Democrats need to avoid the identity candidate(Harris) and socialist candidate(Bernie). Maybe there are other McAullife types, but I think he is the one who is tightest with the democratic leadership.

As much as I wish he would I dont see any chance Newsom runs. He is running for Governor of California and he isnt going to leave that after 2 years to run for President.

Newsom is a Young Man in a Hurry. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't do just that. After all we assume Harris will do exactly that with the Senate.

And Kamala Harris has zero chance because A) she is a woman and B) she dares have an opinion. The Left has already started to knock her down and will do to her what they did to Hillary.

Nobody's knocking Harris down yet and the idea that Democrats are going to bias against an opinionated woman is inane. Hillary may have picked up votes on identity but she lost them on the merits.

If you want to see just how far identity can get you in the Democratic party look at Tulsi Gabbard. She's awful -- I know this personally -- and yet everybody has their panties in a bunch over her because she's a woman, brown(ish), and supposedly a Hindu (actually a crazy Hare Krishna offshoot personality cult run by a con artist named Chris Butler). But good god mention her on Kos and the tears of joy fall like rain.

LOL, guilty as charged on Evan Bayh! I still wonder why he didn't get more support. Yours is a point well taken.

After Charlottesville McAuliffe has the most name recognition.
Only the deep party wonks know the other potential names right now.

Did you read that in the Washington Examiner? McAuliffe wouldnt make it out of the Primaries and he certainly wouldnt beat Trump. He is Hillary without a pantsuit.

Different Topic.

Read in the paper yesterday that Turtle Boy is indicating that there is no way in hell that Congress won't raise the debt ceiling. I would imagine to do that he'll have to make it clean so he can get the Democrats to support it. That'd be political suicide for him but he's used to that. Republicans are like zombies. No matter how much they try to kill themselves they never die.

And then I saw this gem.

If that **** is in the debt ceiling bill Turtle Boy will get zero Democrats to vote for it.

Please let The Moron in Chief shut down the Government over this...that plays well in speeches but it wont when Park Ranger Cletus isnt getting his paycheck.

Of course the usual suspects around here will passively defend it" and tell us how it was actually a great move because it cuts spending...even though all the things that need to actually be cut to fix the issue will still get their money.

Being Governor and being Senator are two different animals. If he wanted to fast track he would forget being Governor and just run for President...running in 2 years makes him look like Sarah Palin.

Which was readily apparent beforehand, so pardon me if I don't believe the blinders are coming off unless and until it actually happens.

To be fair, the last election was so close, basically decided by just a few counties in a few states (all of whom usually went Democrat), that it won't take many people to come to the realization that Trump was no good to swing the election back to any Democratic candidate.

Give me Franken/Newsom in 2020.

Yes it's a pipe dream but a girl can right?

Not if more legislation passes to target voting in those areas. Someone running for Secretary of State in Michigan is already trying to make stricter voting laws.

I would be all for it (and it would win) but I dont see that happening. I certainly dont see Newsom quitting as Governor for Veep.
