There was a Confederate statue in front of Durham Courthouse. It is no longer standing.

a) Reichstag not Bundestag

b) The Nazis didn't have a majority in the Reichstag (they had alliances with folks who thought they could control Hitler).

c) The way you right-wingers reacted you'd think the election of Obama was worse than the Treaty of Versailles.

I'm impressed with the very neat work done by the FBI to let this sucker hang himself. It helps that the terrorists are gullible idiots too.
Related to something from earlier: the new research in genetics is saying that there's really no such thing as free will, even whether or not you do drugs or become a Nazi is all preordained. Depressing in a way, but one guy I heard was saying that treatments for thinking disorders are about to go to warp speed, and our grandchildren will be baffled and amazed that we once imprisoned humans for committing crimes instead of treating them.

Bigotry comes in quieter forms that are more subtle and just as dangerous, possibly more so. I have been in social situations where people have made comments that were tinged with intolerance or bigotry and let them pass. Not often, because I don't surround myself with such people (that I know), but I've done it, and I'm ashamed to admit it. Culture change is a ground game--one yard at a time.

There is also plenty of research showing that we can choose lifestyles that affect the way our DNA performs.

THat research has been going on for a bit. It is more a question of ethics and defining 'abnormal'/what needs to be fixed.
. They did a fascinating piece on NPR about autism included family members and high functioning autistic people on the panel. There was some question if the things we are seeing are in response to the changes in our environment (increasingly disconnected societies do not need people who are hyper aware of social cues etc). Lots of discussion about whether these traits were the new normal.

IF you find this stuff interesting great book- Survival of the sickest talks about diff genetic traits and how they evolved.

a. Was it the Reichstag before the Nazi's took power? (Guess it was because it was the Reichstag fire)
b. Never said they had a majority. They had, however, the most delegates among all the parties in the 'stag.
c. No. Though I think history will judge him harshly.

They're not helping.

(Though since Flag was all for the guy building the stairs in that one town because he did it for a fraction of the cost, I assume he's for this too since the cost of a single rope is very cheap. :P)

I have no idea why this post was skipped over by so many. This is one of the more dangerous things I've heard about this administration.

We aren't going to hear a peep out of the conservatives and USCHO Independents. well, not until someone calls them out on it. WHY WON'T MUSLIMS DENOUNCE THESE TERRORISTS!?!??
