this is the face of real evil. the recollections of steps that these guys are doing vs. the nazis in the early 30's is so very close, it's scary. Nobody wants to make the comparison- but there's no question that there's a lot of history repeating itself, in ways that we thought we could prevent.

Upside: it would be the first time since it's start in 1971 that Amtrak trains would consistently be on time and on schedule.

It was more that I didn't want Hill NOR Trump to rule the country. And calling a good portion of the population too dumb is not a way to win folks over, you arrogant prikc.

But there was no way around that one of them would be president. You can rationalize if you want to but that is the fact. For a guy that gets super semantical about the laws and rules for cops (see: Yanez acquittal) you seem to have a hard time grasping that.

This isnt about Bernie, Bernie ran and lost fair and square. (yes it was as much as it sucks) When the final decision came down you had two possible choices. One sucked and the other was a cancer. For as bad as Hillary may suck she was, is and always will be the better choice to Trump. You have a right not to vote, but unlike the joke George Carlin said (and it was a joke) if you dont vote, or if you vote third party you really lose your right to complain.

Politicians are not people to be "believed in." That's fairy tales for the children. Voting is about gross choices between gross forces, and it's always the lesser of two evils.

The candidates are show ponies and the platforms are bullsh-t. The only thing that matters is results, and results are laws and policies and wars. Realities. If you don't actively oppose a dictator you aid him.

If you can't accept that, get out of the kiddy pool and stop pretending you're contributing.

Bingo. For all of the crap Hillary may have pulled she would have protected people's rights. She would not be embarrassing us on the world stage. She would not be drooling over cutting health care for millions to cut taxes for a few dozen. She would not have handed over classified information in the Oval Office. (or done so at Mar-a-Lago) She wouldnt be kicking trans people out of the military on a whim, wasting a billion dollars on a border wall, hiring one of the most embarrassing cabinets in history and firing staff every few days and breaking serious laws since long before election day and continuing to do so now. Would her Wall Street cronies be getting rich...sure probably at the same rate they are right now. The difference is the rest of of the country would be better off as well.

It was easy to see the outcome, most of us were talking about all of this months before the election. Trump didnt hide who he was. Some people rationalize (this is the crowd that whine about her possible email issue but rationalize his blatant security violations) some people deny (these are the people who thought the economy blew under Obama and that the GOP are somehow fiscally responsible) some people love him (re: bigots) and others are willfully ignorant. No matter the reason they have no one to blame but themselves.

If I ask my kid if he wants steak or chicken for dinner and he says "pizza", he's not getting pizza. He's getting steak or chicken, pizza wasn't a choice. In November we had two choices. Unfortunately we had a lot of children that had a temper tantrum because they couldn't get pizza for dinner.

What economic viewpoints are you looking for?

I want to see us reduce debt, at all levels. Raising taxes is part of the solution, obviously, but I don't think it's the cure all you are lead to believe.

I think the part of the problem that gets completely overlooked is the state/municipal issues. There is a big difference between providing people with a comfortable living and completely giving away the farm. With democrats at local levels in a lot of cases it is the latter. IL and CT are the state's who have the most pressing issues right now but I can see other states having similar problems down the road.

At all levels of government there needs to be an attitude around 'buying' what we can afford. The republicans are guilty of running up the deficit at the federal level, but I think you'd find at local levels it is more the democrats who are responsible.

The kind of person who would hem and haw over who to support wasn't very bright and was almost certainly swayed by the fact that Hillary never bothered to campaign here.

Just one visit would've possibly turned around enough of those people and made something happen.

No offense but this is stark raving stupid. 50 years ago I believe LBJ coined the phrase that landing Air Force One in a place won you an extra 20K votes, but that was 50 years ago. Its no longer relevant. Her visiting WI wouldn't have changed a thing because the same my way or the highway whiny lefties would have been criticizing her regardless and not voting anyway or voting for 3rd parties.

I'm most definitely biased and quite aware of it. These are tough days for people who have genuine conservative leanings. The Republican Party has let us down to a large degree and our views don't really align with what the democrats have to offer. The only hope is for a new party to develop.

I've said this before, but I really think Trump is a real life Charlie Croker. I would assume most of the people on here dislike Tom Wolfe and don't get the reference. For those with an open mind 'A Man in Full' truly is a great read.

I'm conservative on economic issues too. For me, being conservative means not going into debt(unless necessary) and spending money wisely. Other stuff like abortion I'm not particularly conservative on though.

Yeah, but this time around people had a choice between chicken and a baloney sandwich with mold visible on the bread that continued to grow for 18 months. Then they went with the sandwich because they'd had chicken a lot lately, or because they would've really liked the free range chicken from earlier but for some reason decided the line between free range and farm raised was more of a divider than realizing they're both chicken, and and one is a moldy sandwich.

Or you could have voted for Bernie and listened to the "Not Hill" folks, some of which were Ds. Might have even got a few Libertarians to swing that vote. I didn't vote, just in case you didn't know. I hated all of 'em.

So, in THAT case, you also blew it. Keep those blinders on.

I did vote for Bernie in the primary. I think he was a better alternative than Hillary. But Bernie didn't win the nomination for my party, Hillary did.

So even though I didn't particularly like her, and didn't think she was what the country needed, I knew she was a vastly better choice than the alternative. So I voted for her.

It's like you choosing to eat calamari or cow chit. Neither one sounds particularly appetizing to me, but I think I know what the better choice would be. And if you should make the other choice, you deserve to be called stupid. So quit whining about it, snowflake. Stupid is as stupid does.
