POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

This is clearly the case. Gore (2000), Kerry (2004), Romney (2012), and Hillary (2016) all destroyed their opponents in the debates. The debates don't mean a thing -- smart people already know the stances and dumb people just blat along to whichever spin they are programmed to believe.

Uh, Obama won the best of 3 in 2012. Romney won a blowout in round 1, but Obama took rounds 2 and 3.

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

Lawrence and Lowell have those things as well. It's not a bad town and for some people is in a great location, but it's not Lexington, Weston, etc.

I would agree that Woburn would be considered a relatively "average" town for someone looking to settle down / start a family etc.

I understand exactly what Drew is saying. And I do think that most people who live around here would consider Woburn to be a pretty "average" town..

You can certainly get a house for cheaper in Mass, but, it will either be so far out of the city that if you work in Boston the commute becomes borderline unrealistic, or it is in a city (as Drew is referencing) that most of us on here would not really want to settle into / send our kids to the schools etc.

I don't think so. Obama surprised me that he didn't bring his fastball to those debates. He won on the merits of course because, duh, but he didn't win the grip and grin stupidity that most voters top off at.

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

Too general. We need one that has things more specific to the time. Stuff like Meuller is in cahoots with the evil Dems, someone falls on their sword, has a rant like the Mooch, gets fired and goes nuts, S. Huckabee lies... well that should probably be the star in the center. She lies every day. There is the ever present Benghazi!!!, but Hillary and but Obama!!!, tweetts about Russia, tweets about various cabinet members.....

Yes, it's good that we can make a joke of what our president has become.

Really? That's kinda sad.

Thanks for bringing us all down to your level.

Either laugh or sob. so embarassing

Considering the lasting line from the debates was binders full of women, I don't think Romney won.

Edit: Also the "please proceed, governor" moment.

Obama definitely won the debate where he stared Romney down and told him the insinuation about Benghazi was offensive.

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

I think the bigger issue is that so many people are down on themselves and the county in general. Even though things aren't necessarily 'fair' there is still a lot of opportunity out there and for the most part people have it pretty good here.

No one should be, "down on the country" which isn't to say things couldn't better. They can always be better. But anyone that argued #MAGA was a legitimate rallying point is a moron.

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

I think the best any of us can do with the current administration is laugh at the absurdity of it. You and others who are upset with Trump should read the comments Moeen Ali made the other day.

Everyone should be upset with this child. He lies to us constantly, is lazy in his preparation, and disrespects and bullys his staff, congress, foreign leaders, and all of us. Nobody should be good with that.

Democrats probably have the biggest reason to be happy with Trump, since he has been paralyzing the GOP machine, which should be chugging right along but is blowing oil all over the place.

Wrong. We can laugh at the absurdity of you for thinking this wouldn't be the disaster it has been.

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

Bernie being a socialist wouldn't have been that big of a deal, most people want some form of single payer anyhow and the dems are moving closer to that. He also could've easily played to peoples' anger who lost their homes due to the financial crisis and actually showed some interest in prosecuting those responsible rather than making their lives easier like Hillary's husband did.

Biden would've easily won, it's hard to imagine the debates matter at all when Trump lost all of them horribly.

Wouldnt have been that big of a deal? Half the country hates Socialists because they think they are Communists. People dont want anything labelled socialism hence why it is still used as a slur by half the voters.

Biden would not have won easily. That is Monday Morning QBing at its finest.

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

That is no longer a meaningful statement. A country that elects Trump President is a country that will literally vote for anyone for anything. There are no longer any "bridge too fars." That's just self-sabotage and conditioning to prevent us from giving the country a real choice.

Is that right? You ever go anywhere besides the Coasts? Socialism is a slur it is not a welcome idea to half the country and you know it. Hell even Dems are at odds over it.

You have a very strange view of the electorate.

Obama definitely beat Kerry and sorry but Al Gore did not win his debates. You dont win when you bore everyone to sleep. Hell the NY Times printed an article prior to Trump/Clinton 1 about how Gore's mistakes in the debates should be an example of how to not to play it. (the constant sighing in deference to Bush, the exaggerating) Gore thought because he was the smartest man in the room he could win that way, the people disagreed and even his people seem to agree with that now.

I will leave Kerry alone, the man flip flopped more than a goldfish out of water.

Debates arent won on issues it is a dog and pony show and Gore and Kerry sucked at it. Obama knew how to make a statement and have it be memorable for the right reasons. (unlike say "lockbox") Clinton had the same issue...sure she won on every issue and policy discussion but Trump won because he was what his voters wanted him to be.

That half was gonna vote for Trump anyhow so who cares? And yeah they can try and spin him as a communist but it's not that hard to retort that we used to have the much higher taxes on the rich and the country was better off for it. Most dem voters will understand.

There's a lot of candidates that would've fared better than Hillary it's not that hard to understand. She has the baggage of idk how many fake and real scandals combined with her Iraq war vote and Wall Street ties, Biden isn't perfect but he doesn't have nearly the same amount of issues there. Hell I remember tasking to friends about Hillary vs Bernie and basically saying that if she won the primary it's really open the door for the other side.

I may be wrong, but didn't Trump's numbers go down after each debate?

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

I would think (but unofan or our other lawyers can correct) that you impanel the grand jury once you feel you have accumulated enough evidence to proceed to charges.

That was my feeling as well, but then I read that there had already been another grand jury already impaneled before Mueller began, dealing with Flynn matters.

That article mentioned that the GJ had subpoena powers, and could also compel testimony under oath,so we may not quite be at the point where Mueller thinks he has the good \s to bring charges. Probably just wants to get these guys' stories nailed down under oath

Re: POTUS 45.15 - Now With More Yacht Banging Stories!

Guys, Bernie loses by more than Hillary. Biden loses about the same. If you weren't satisfied with progress under Obama, why in God's name do you think Biden would be any better? Two salient points against Hillary were she wasn't up to the rigors of the job and she'd been in DC for 25 years. Biden was 5 years older, fought brain cancer, and had been in DC since 1972. He also had a few minor scandals in his past that would have been blown up and has plenty of corporate ties. The same whiners who stayed home would have done the same for him. He may very well have pulled out PA since he was originally from there but that wouldn't have done the trick.

Bernie would have gotten crucified. His tax policies would have been relentlessly mocked by the so called liberal press, he looked like he was 85 years old and we would have been refighting the 1960's 10 times over. I also can't see him putting up with the withering criticism and negative campaign Trump would have sent his way. That tax snafu his wife is in also would have been front and center.

Given the laziness and instance on a cult of personality out of the left, only Obama wins that election, and he was constitutionally barred from running. Sad but true.

No you are right...problem is none of the numbers can be trusted because the methods by which they gathered them were flawed.

I might agree about Bernie. The only way he wins is if he really rallies the liberal base. Centrists are not buying into "free everything".

I think uncle Joe would have won. On paper maybe not much difference from Hillary but a much more likeable candidate in my opinion with a lot less baggage. (Even though a lot of that baggage was partially manufactured over the years.)

Just as the Republican Party decided they were done with the bushes, the dens should have been done with the Clinton's.

Do you really think that the people who chose not to vote would have come out in droves for Bernie? If that was the case why didnt they do so during the Primaries? Bernie's numbers with minorities were weak as hell and the only states he did well in were caucus states. He lost every major primary...but somehow he was going to inspire people to vote for him in the General? Please the logic is ridiculous on its face and the math doesnt add up. Bernie ran about as perfect a grass roots campaign as you can, he raised money up the wazoo and he didnt even make a dent when it comes to delegates.

And again, many Democrats have issues with supporting anything labelled socialism. (the label works...ask around) It isnt about "spinning" it is about actual perception. You and Kepler can live in a world of hypotheticals all you want but in the real world Bernie gets killed. He is one of my favorite politicians, someone I identify with on the spectrum to an alarmingly high rate so it isnt like I am some Blue Dog DINO. Bernie was too old, too left and too vague to have a chance. Hell he won Minnesota and the Teachers Union here still backed Hillary. (I worked the rally I wanted to punch them)

Biden was past his prime. Dems dont like voting old they prefer young and inspirational. The demographics for Biden would have killed him and there is again zero evidence people in Pennsylvania, WI or Michigan would have decided to not be lazy *****s if he was the nominee. If there was any evidence of that he would have jumped in the race when it was obvious neither Bernie nor Hillary had the juice to walk away with it. He polls well with Dems but he is the QB that is on the bench that everyone swears is the difference between going 6-10 and going 10-6 without any proof.
