Manila Envelope Watch: Day 1

If there is impeachable evidence out there and Trump did this to cover it up, this bold brazen act will push someone to wheel it out because Comey had to have allies in the FBI/DOJ that will vindicate him.

I doubt it. They probably like their jobs.

Hearing over and over again that the White House is shocked by the reaction this is getting. Another example of our failed attempts to teach History in this Country.

I heard that Trump called Schumer and Chuck told him it was a bad idea.
Well, there it is: I've agreed with the senior Senator from NY for my one time in 2017. ;)

Now the focus is on Trump and why he did it. Easy assumption: cover-up. But if there's something there, and Comey's inept (as history may lead one to believe) why not just leave Comey in place as a wounded duck who just got refuted in Congressional testimony by his own FBI (few v. thousands of emails)?

I suspect the magician's other hand is in play because all we can look at right now is "he fired Comey"? That was a CEO move, meaning, do something big and unexpected to draw attention away from you reorganizing two other divisions and selling off some underperforming chunk of the organization. <-- the magician's other hand

For YEARS, republicans have been telling the world how incompetent Democrats are.

So NOW they decide to follow their suggestion? Really?

Just like for Flynn- you can't tell us how bad Democrats are, then then blame them for doing what they did or are telling you.

If don or any of the other R's start following Democrat old ways, either they are lying about it, or they are the worst negotiators of all time. don should be kicked out of the White House purely on his incompetence on that.

Goes along with the worst lawyers of all time, I guess.

Can't blame Democrats on this one.

You keep saying stuff like that...except Trump hasnt hidden one thing he has done. No one is hyperfocused as you always pretend they are...everything he says and does gets a spotlight put on him. If he was the brilliant magician you pretend he is he would have fired Comey before Yates testified or when the EPA was getting Black Monday'ed. You act like he has strategy when it is obvious to anyone who has ever played a game of chess this schmuck is playing Chutes and Ladders. There is no grand plan...he does all of this based on his gut. He cant even Wag the Dog right as his Syria bombing was an epic failure.

While I 100% agree with you on this you cannot deny that he was praised for that bombing by Democrats. The party of fail.

If the smoking guns are out there, there is literally zero chance they stay hidden. It may take time, and some digging by the media or maybe a prosecutor or two not beholden to Trump, but it'll come out. That's the problem with conspiracies. By definition they require at least one additional person.

I think everything is already out there. There's no magic smoking gun. He does business with them and that's it and that's all that will come out. Manafort and Flynn are in bed with them, we already know that.

It's going to be a big nothingburger.

If I heard right last night Chuck Schumer requested that all Senate Democrats be on the floor of the Senate this morning at 9:30? Eastern. We should hear how the Democrats are going to screw this up then.
