Breaking news from the Washington post:

Exclusive: President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

Uh, go fish. The President can disclose whatever he wants, generally speaking.

For most anyone in government discussing such matters with an adversary would be illegal. As president, Trump has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law.

Hillary mishandled e-mails that were later classified. Trump invites the Russians in, tells them critical intelligence that is withheld from allies and much of the government. I'm guessing we still won't hear a peep out of the GOP.

Does the fact that in came from an intelligence sharing agreement change that? In theory he could've violated something legal there right?

It's true. The classification rules descend from Executive Orders. This is one case where it's true "If the President does it, then it is not illegal."

The string of EOs goes all the way back to whichever president was in office at the time of the chartering of the particular originating agency. (CIA, 1947, Truman; Dept of Energy, 1977, Carter; NSA, 1952, Ike; NRO, 1961, JFK; etc...)

I strongly suspect that details of ongoing sensitive operations are not shared by the CIA or DIA with Trump.

With the leaks that have been flowing from the Trump administration, it's pretty safe to say that aliens never landed at Roswell and there wasn't a second shooter on the grassy knoll.
