Senators and Congress people actually have immunity (while in session) but the President doesn't. So as far as we know, a President could be tried and convicted of a criminal offense in any court. (although the procedure itself would probably be fraught with legal difficulties. ) I suppose, because the President is in 24 hour custody of the secret service, it would be hard to imagine a situation in which a President would actually be jailed pending appeal. But anyway, what would happen next is that the President would likely pardon him/herself. The Constitution places no limit on Presidential pardon power except in the case of an impeachment. The SC would have to rule afterwards on that no doubt, but the President would have a decent case.

AFAIK barring impeachment, the President would be still be the President even if serving twenty to life in San Quentin. The reality is of course that any President that is charged and arraigned on serious criminal charges is going to be referred to congressional committee for impeachment. Even this one.

My first thought was "there's a street in NYC you can block for 15 seconds without getting run down by some permutation of a taxi, a Brooklyn as-shole late for his Pilates, a Suffolk County as-shole late for his brokerage meeting, drunk Matt Harvey, or a Michael Bay film crew?"

Russia's military is highly overrated -- I doubt they could knock out Turkey or France, they might be an even match for the UK.

But their cyber is better than ours. The hacking hierarchy from worst to best goes: that guy in Nigeria, the CIA, the Chinese, the NSA, a junior high school kid in his Mom's basement in Plano, the Israelis, the covert guys the NSA calls when they're stumped, any B student at MIT, the Russians, a bunch of mercs sitting in a warehouse in Siberia lethally drunk on vodka and surrounded by stolen soft toilet paper and poon.

It will however be hilarious to see pompous jacka sses like Hatch and McCain have to explain why they voted FOR a conviction over a bj, but voted AGAINST it over treason with our biggest foreign rival.

You need 2/3 of the Senate to convict. Unless he's caught selling Alaska to the Russians or the Dakotas to the Sioux, it's not going to happen.

The D's would be best served, if they recapture the House, of putting forth a series of modest moderate legislative proposals that will recapture the heart and soul of middle America.

This is absurd. Or naïve. Or both. A raging lunatic is in the WH and they're supposed to ignore that??? Umm...okay. Did you ever think that if Dems do retake the House, the #1 reason why will be the expected Impeachment of Trump (subject to evidence of course). Not because of modest legislative proposals to appeal to middle America, whatever that's supposed to mean.

If there's anything this last election taught us, its that there are no swing voters anymore so don't expect somebody else to do the voting for you. Rigthies are willing to overlook things such as racism, sexual assault and treason with foreign enemies as long as an R gets elected. Dems show up for elections when they feel like it regardless of the consequences. Seems hastening Trump's departure from office via legislative means might just get them off their couches.

I know members of two large camps that are not billionaires.
1. Old people who listen to Rush every day and think O'Reilly was framed. If Rush ever turns on Trump that'll be the end of him (Rush being an oracle of pure truth to about 19% of Americans)
2. 4Chan trolls who are bitter about not having a love life or career and would like to blow up society.

Look at it this way. 4 out of every 10 people you see walking on the street wants to destroy the country.
