What I learned in the last thread was you need to take an extreme stance and then negotiate...this was in regards to global warming, I asked if it could be applied elsewhere and never got a response.
**** that. The election of Donald Trump was nothing short of a declaration of war against any and all things liberal. The next four years will see a systemic attempt to dismantle any liberal way of governing. And when you are in a war the last thing you want is to stand next to someone who doesn't want to fight.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eleventh_Commandment_(Ronald_Reagan)

Deuteronomy 6:
At least Trump has one international leader on his side - Iron Vlad Putin.
Seriously, that relationship is not going to end well for the United States. Putin is going to have Trump eating from the palm of his hand, and our various bureaucracies will be working overtime to keep the Russian bears at paws length.
There was an interview on the BBC yesterday doubt how trump's treatment of the press mimicked Putin's in quite a few ways. Refusing to answer questions, insulting certain press (who later end up dead or are never heard from again), planting so called journalists in the room to get a certain response, ( applause), threatening people with punishment for asking questions, all are old Putin tricks.Could well happen, assuming Putin doesn't overplay his hand.

He's just another one of their huge number of Misogynist's. Nothing new.

Third Way Democrats are the reason we are in this mess. Half measures, compromises, and the courting of Wall Street at the expense of the working class have done nothing but hand ammunition to the enemy.
It is time to embrace who and what we truly are and what we truly believe in. We must embrace the liberal and democratic socialist ideals and labels. We must no longer live in fear, if we can't believe that our ideas will be accepted then how do we expect others to accept them?
If the Rovers and Clintons and Bookers and Cantwells don't believe in them, then we must rid ourselves of them.
And then Republicans will be wiping their @ sses with your face for the next several decades. Problem with purists is they have no problem losing elections as they value purity over success. Republicans may be craven hypocrites with no morals but they've figured out its better to have someone in your party running things than the opposition.
I'm going to give you a scenario that's going to make your head explode. Its possible the next Dem nominee is a current governor who banned fracking in his state, had the legislature legalize same sex marriage even though he needed Republican votes to do so, and has proposed free college tuition at state public universities. Who's this guy? Andrew Cuomo. My take on you and others is you'd rather lose the next election to Donald Trump once again than vote for a guy who agrees with you on the aforementioned issues. This is the problem with people on the left.

I figured this out after Nader. The fact that apparently the Democrats couldn't effectively explain it to their Constituents this election means my knowledge was worthless. You barking it on the board isn't going to move the needle either. The rules as we know them are:
1. Republicans vote for Republicans.
2. Democrats vote for who they think best represents their values.
In other words, Dems are ALWAYS going to start at a deficit. Shame on the fool(s) who said Dems were starting ahead because of Demographic changes. That just isn't true.
