Potsdam Bears 2012-13 season....on the Road Again....

Re: Potsdam Bears 2012-13 season....on the Road Again....

As far as the schedule goes for next season, (can't believe I am talking about next season already), a trip to Michigan against Adrian and the US U18 team, Johnson & Wales come for a visit, maybe Becker. Perhaps the SUNY Canton Thanksgiving tourney as well.

They are also playing at Hobart. I think that's essentially it for road trips other than the SUNYAC road trips. So, that actually is a bit less than 16 home games, unless the US18 game is not counting towards their 25 game limit, which is possible.

St. Anselm is supposed to go to Potsdam, as Ed Seney makes his first return to see the new Maxcy.

More like when it was 4-0. When it was 3-0, Potsdam scored, but the refs ruled it was directed in by a kicking motion. Watching the video after the period was over, that was clearly a terrible call.

Shortly afterward, Geneseo scores. So, you go from 3-1 with some hope yet to 4-0, and that's when Potsdam looked deflated. And the rout was on.

Who were the officials? The names are absent from the box score at uscho.com.

Bears Hall of Fame Class of 2013 announced

Excerpt:

Three former SUNY Potsdam student-athletes and two Potsdam championship teams have been selected for induction into Bears Hall of Fame in 2013. Edane Barton '06, Chris Lee '04, Chris Mele '87, 1972-73 Wrestling Team and 1995-96 Men's Ice Hockey Team are the Class of 2013.
...
Lee is one of the best hockey players to ever don a Potsdam jersey. In 110 career games with the Bears, the MacTier, Ontario native scored 41 goals and recorded 74 assists for 115 points, placing him in a tie for 10th place on the program's all-time scoring list. He was a three-time member of the All-SUNYAC team. At the conclusion of his senior season in 2004, Lee was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year and became Potsdam's fifth hockey All-American. After graduation, Lee continued his hockey career, playing professionally in the East Coast Hockey League, the American Hockey League and in Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Lee played for Team Canada in the 2012 Deutschland Cup. He is currently playing for Färjestad Bollklubb of Swedish Elite League in Karlstad.
...
The 1995-96 Bears men's hockey team is the lone Potsdam squad to capture a SUNYAC Championship in the program's 37 seasons. With Hall of Fame coach Ed Seney at the helm, the Bears opened the year with seven straight victories, en route to a then program-best 18-10-2 record. Potsdam was 11-3 in the SUNYAC, earning the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. After losing the first game of the quarterfinal series to Oswego, the Bears rallied for a 5-4 win in game two and advanced with a 1-0 mini game victory. In the finals at Plattsburgh, Potsdam rallied to tie the Cardinals 4-4 in the first game and never trailed in a 3-3 draw in game two. This set up another dramatic 1-0 mini game win to capture the title. Tony Matczynski was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Bears all-time leading scorer and Hall of Famer Steve Naughton and goalie Dave Dragone were named to the all-tournament team. Bears Hall of Famer Nathan Sunday joined Naughton and Dragone on the All-SUNYAC first team. Naughton became Potsdam's fourth hockey All-American two seasons later.

A few weeks back I was fortunate enough to get a tour of the "new" rink. Wow...just jaw dropping. This facility is going to be a gem. Although I do enjoy summer, I am looking forward to next season.
