Potsdam Bears 2012-13 season....on the Road Again....

Re: Potsdam Bears 2012-13 season....on the Road Again....

So here's the deal Cards fans, we will root for you on Friday night and you root for us on both nights. Deal?

Re: Potsdam Bears 2012-13 season....on the Road Again....

First time posting as a long-time lurker and Bears fan for the past 12 years or so, gotta love Potsdam.

Potsdam has a tendency to do amazing things when faced against impossible odds then turning around the next night and playing like crap against the bottom team in the league (looking at you, Morrisville), so I'm honestly worried we might come close to a victory against Oswego (something like 5-4) like the end of last year, but then fall off and lose horribly to Cortland, which we shouldn't if we played like we did last week. Hopefully we go the route of beating Cortland and probably losing to Oswego which still gets us a playoff spot vs. Geneseo in the first round, which I can live with given how messed up our schedule was/how poorly we played. I wouldn't mind a tough game for Cortland Friday night either to wear them down when they play us, because I know we'll be tired after going against Oswego.

As long as we have offense, we should beat Cortland and should put up a fight against Oswego. Unfortunately, we've given up at least three goals every game except our shutout loss against Fredonia (2-0), which makes it difficult to win if our offense is having a poor night.

My 2 cents for this last week.

Welcome aboard CamBear! Are you attending the games this weekend?

Re: Potsdam Bears 2012-13 season....on the Road Again....

I am first to admit the Bears were outplayed this evening from the opening puck drop. Oswego has too much talent for this young Bear squad to handle. Cortland is up next for the Bears as a win is all that matters. If the Bears win they are in the playoffs. I will admit struggling to make the playoffs is not my idea of a good program.

But it is better than not having any chance at all.

All teams have bad nights, good luck to the Bears tonight.

Yes, and that's what Potsdam has done for a while now. We pushed last year and made it into the playoffs, hopefully we can do it again.

And yes, I went to the game last night which was embarrassingly bad the first period but honestly pretty good in the third. Hopefully we can see something good tonight out of them. John Horen (the guy from the radio broadcast, right?) seemed to think it was partially because the Bears had already signed this one off, and didn't even try to win, which historically has been a problem for the Bears over the past 10 years: our consistency. Even in the days of Lee and McCarthy we could play great against Oswego or Geneseo then turn around the next day and be crushed by a subpar team. Hopefully tonight though we get the win and we can have another game agaInst Geneseo.

I agree CamBear, play great then a stinker. Tonight is it for the Bears, at least we got the bad game out of our systems for the weekend. This is going to be a tight game against Cortland, a goal or two should be the margin of victory.

That would be John Horan, former coach at Potsdam, and now does color commentating for the home games.

He recently retired from Potsdam after serving as the Director of Residence Life.

Horan not Horen, okay thanks. I always enjoy listening to his opinions on how we play.

Saints17, they may be struggling but the way that Berhard is coaching this team is something to be excited about. In the past pdam would have rolled over...they are starting to get some talent on that squad and I for one am excited to see how they do with a real home ice next year.

I agree Bernard has done a good job. I keep forgetting how close the league is nowadays. Home ice next season will seem great again!

Maybe Potsdam will get lucky and decide to add athletic director to their shared services list. Zalacca has been begging to be replaced for years!
