Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

By the way Bear and Knight fans, the Village of Potsdam is thinking of dissolving.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Wow....I hope this isn't true. I cannot figure out why we are losing guys....:(

Todd Hosmer going to Morrisville makes some sense, given your earlier post ...

Recently I was informed that Todd Hosmer and Trevor O'Neil will not be on the team next season. I haven't heard any specifics as to why. Losing 6 seniors plus these 2 players will be a huge task for the coaches. I heard rumors of no less than 13 freshman next season. I guess us fans will have to "Bear" with it....

Norm, I was in the sun all day. So forgive me. I thought maybe things could change over the summer and things would work out.

Does that mean they are going pour acid on it? Won't that be tough on the schools? Will they have to rebuild after they are dissolved? Will water work as a solvent?:confused::)

I don't understand the overlapping jurisdictions and towns and villages and townships and boros, etc. that you find in the Northeast - I understand the idea of incorporated and unincorporated areas like they have in the (real)West. If you are in King County, Washington, you are either in one municipality, such as the City of Seattle, or the City of Shoreline, or you are in an unincorporated area. You are never under two municipal jurisdictions at the same time like you can be in Vermont - the Village of Northfield is part of the Town of Northfield, etc. Furthermore, you can't have two municipalities with the same name (like Rutland City and Rutland Town). It's a whole lot easier for a small mind like mine to comprehend.

IF you got to spend the day in the sun only 80 miles west of me, there is no forgiving you :p

Seriously, I hope the coaching staff is up to the task of rebuilding, 13 freshmen offer good potential, but also has substantial downsides, let's hope for the best.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Well Norm it was something like this. Partly sunny skies to observe college baseball umpires. However the field was unplayable due to the moisture. I am in my first year of baseball umping and they encourage us to go observe. I can't wait to get yelled at. I am doing high school games this year and within 4-5 years college games.
My goal is to be the "Mike St.Louis" of umpiring....;)

You and the future Mrs. should take up hockey reffing together. That way you could write off your SLU / CCT / SUCP season tickets as "observing" expenses.

In light of the Clarkson dismissals of George Roll, perhaps SUNY Potsdam's coach Chris Bernard could be a candidate for the job. He did everything to play there and could be the spark that Clarkson needs.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Me thinks Saints17 has been hit in the head with a puck too often...
Rolling Pin :D

In order to be considered for a D-I program, 'yard and the Bears have to win the SUNYAC on a fairly regular basis. Until then..... And Clarkson just let go a former D-III coach. I don't know if they want to go that route again.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Actually I almost took a line drive to the coconut the other day, while umping the bases. :)
