Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

"She does give good helmet":D

I guess, as an alumni of the bears hockey program, it is frustrating to see the program the way it is. I have been to a handful of games this year and hearing about some of the petty things the players are complaining about makes it not a very enjoyable environment. These kids have to realize that the team as a whole is more important the individuals. I think some of them get it but just as many seem to put themselves ahead of the team. I know that coaching changes are sited as a big reason for their lack of success but the coach can only do so much. Especially when the players won't buy into their system because they think they are better then where the coach has them. For this team to ever be successful they need to buy in and play together as a team every night, all season. Time to put the personal agendas aside.

firebush has good points. it would be hard to have any success with individuals only self serving themselves. I guess it comes down to the chicken or the egg because if the players are so selfish you should also ask whether attitude is reflecting leadership. since I dont know what goes on inside the program I think one would have to give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt because they are coming in to something that was left for them., not something that they are creating

I guess if I had the ability to post anonomously like you guys, I would do so. However I do not have that luxury as I know the players and the coaching staff pretty well. This is what happens when you are the only true fan on USCHO.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

saints17 you are a "pretty big deal around here!" :D Anonymity can be a good thing but don't mistake this for hiding behind a computer. If the players are upset about what I posted that's fine. Maybe they should be more concerned about whats happening on the ice and not so much about if their stats are right or what is written about them in a chat room !

Firebush-
Who said anything about the players being upset with whats posted online? I doubt they read this stuff. I don't think anyone is "hiding" here, my point was anything I post, every one knows its me that wrote it. All in all, its a moot point now since the Bears are out of playoff contention.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Saints17, great post and happy to hear of your passion towards DIII hockey, the Potsdam Bears specifically. It is fans like you that make the game special for everyone. I hope the folks over there appreciate your passion. I also hope they start winning some games before you jump off a building!! good thing is, they will be back next year and I hope you are as rabid a fan as you are now. kudos senor...or seniorita, I guess I shouldn't assume you are a male.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Bears should have hired Darcy Petie and Albert Mitchell from Elmira when they had the chance.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

I have to admit, for only the second time this year, tonight, I won't be rooting for the Bears ;)

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Just heard on the radio, Potsdam is now reviewing the blueprints for renovations. Excellent news! Hopefully they can make sure those of us who sit up high won't have to duck around those heaters.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

On the radio, they just announced the schedule for next season. As always, we play Morrisville the first night. Games at Utica, Hobart, and the Times Argus Tourney.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Observation just made on WIRY that Trevor O'Neil is absent from the bench at the start of the 3rd. Rob Knowles finding it odd that at this stage, down by 6, you'd expect to see the backup maybe going in... not disappearing.

Thanks for the update. I agree kinda confusing. I will reserve from commenting further...

Its not odd when you put yourself in front of the team! While I am only speculating and I don't know why O'Neil was absent if I heard that this was the case I would not be suprised. Hopefully Coach Bernard and Coach Crowley will get a large new crop of fresh faces and weed out all the "bad apples". Maybe they could call Chip Foose and do some Overhaulin'! :D

Northfield Savings Bank. The Times Argus stoppend sponsoring the New Year's Tourney this season and was replaced by NSB

I stand corrected. All apologies. I will state that weather permitting I will be making the trek again. Hopefully this time I will be able to stick around for the Championship game. :)

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Recently I was informed that Todd Hosmer and Trevor O'Neil will not be on the team next season. I haven't heard any specifics as to why. Losing 6 seniors plus these 2 players will be a huge task for the coaches. I heard rumors of no less than 13 freshman next season. I guess us fans will have to "Bear" with it....

Both Todd and Trevor are only a juniors this year, I hope they simply going to concentrate on their studies, it would be a real shame if they don't graduate, and most 4 year programs require you to complete at least 50% of your credits at the degree granting institution.
