Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

You are right about not being a power house.:):)

The Bears soundly defeated Southern New Hampshire yesterday by a score of 6-0. However from what I have seen and read SHU isn't exactly a powerhouse. But a win is a win. Now its back into SUNYAC play. Here we go.....

Let's just say my high school, and I don't even know if they have a hockey team anymore, could beat SNHU.

But a win is sure better than a lost.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

You know I am an idiot! Nobody should argue with me. :)
But alas, lost in this fan's thoughts of "how good was the opposition", is this simple fact. Sophomore goaltender Kevin McFarland earned his first career victory and first shutout for the Bears since the '03-'04 season. Perhaps we all sometimes tend to forget the positives for each of our beloved teams. My apologies to Kevin.

Agree...keep up the good work for another month or so.... :) Potsdam will knock someone down in the next few weeks. Always a spoiler.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

For whatever reason, I have a strong feeling about the games this weekend for the Bears. Call it a hunch.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Well looks like the Bears have found a different gear. Had it not been for some solid defensive play by the B'port defense that was easily a double digit night for the Bears. Russell, didn't see you at the rink......you do know where I sit right?

Ever since the game against Castleton, the Bears have been playing with alot more jump. They were buzzin' tonight against Brockport and like I posted the score could have been much higher. I think these kids are gettin' in the playoff mindset early and recognize how much work lays ahead. Tomorrow night should be a good one.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Well unfortunately due to a pipe bursting, the game against Geneseo has been postponed until tomorrow at Clarkson's Cheel Arena, puck drops at 2pm. The game will resume from the 2nd period. Let's hope the Bears are able to overcome a 3-1 deficit and find a way to win.

The help would be appreciated!!

Any early word on if the rink/ice will be ready for Oswego Friday night?

Re: Potsdam Bears 2010-11

Looks like they couldn't get the LiveStats moved to Cheel :(

Though the planning for this, probably helped in getting Clarkson quickly on board :)

Excerpt:
The Clarkson University men's hockey team, the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team and the Potsdam Central High School boys' hockey team have teamed up for the first-ever Hockey Day in Potsdam on Saturday, Jan. 29.
...
Each team is scheduled to host one game that afternoon. The Sandstoners will take on Thousand Island at 1 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall, while the Golden Knights will host Princeton at 4 p.m. at Clarkson's Cheel Arena. The Bears will cap the day with a 7:30 p.m. contest at Maxcy Hall against SUNY Cortland.
