Poser of the Year -- History

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

"phil" started it, and his alter ego posted it a few times, too.

There was a third name registered, but I forget who that was. He tried to pass him off as phil's cousin or brother, something like that.

In junior high we had a weird kid (he actually held a switchblade to my throat once when I went over to his house to buy a stamp album). Between I think summer of 7th and 8th grade he claimed to have switched places with his "identical twin from Colorado." He had everybody call him by his "new" first name, including the teachers.

He went off to Columbia or Harvard to study math or chemistry and I always expect him to show up on the news in a very, very bad way.

Did he change his name to Trotsky? ;)

Did Major Sharp have any other names?

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

But he's not a poser. He comes off as fully believing what he's posting, which just makes him a conspiracy nut and not someone who's pretending or playing a character for attention.

also, he clearly wants to "win" the "honor" which subverts the whole purpose: poseur of the year if you will.....

No wonder because of how close he has come so many times. But if you don't have at least a little of that, it just becomes too mean spirited because most will tend to overreact to the "honor".

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

I don't know.

Oh, and phil's other alias was the cleverly crafted "Kevin Dupree", or some variant on it.

It was Kevin Dupree.

And the PoTY was always meant as a dishonor, but it has slowly evolved to a simple popularity contest.

Well, I guess I see how I rate... never even being in the voting. :(

Oh well, I think I'll get over it. :)

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

We're still missing a lot of data, for those with records or good memories.
