Priced flooring today. I may be able to get this done a hell of a lot cheaper than I thought.

Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge 204: Covid 19

Got my hair done today. I’m not one of those ones that was so annoyed at the lockdown because I needed to get my hair done. I would’ve been ok waiting. But my salon emailed that they were opening the week of Memorial Day and laid out all these rules they were putting in place. I’ve been going there for almost 25 years. I love my stylist, she’s great. I wanted to show support. They were closed for a long time. So I went, waited outside for them to call me to tell me to come in. Never happened. Not one of their rules they emailed they were putting in place was in effect. It made me uncomfortable. I came home and took another shower to scrub my face and the rest of me.

I’m so disappointed and mad and upset. I’m either going to wait it out to see if we have another surge or I’m going to change salons.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Those are the places that will ruin this gradual opening overall. Follow. The. Rules.

Good for you for leaving. I don't usually go to the salon so I am lucky. No matter what rules they say they are putting in place I can't see any way they can do it that is safe. If you look at what they rank for risk that is one of the highest risk activities. I do not understand the opening of them before most other things.

Grew up in the late 60s-70s where natural, no make up, no bra, no hair treatments (except mayonnaise for conditioner). Over the last 10 yrs things have really gotten crazy- women have been convinced the real them is not good- fake nails, pedi (we used to paint our own), fake lashes, painted on eyebrows, thick makeup, hair straightened, hair colored, numerous spanx/shaper things. Kids that are pre HS are doing all of this. Pandemic has upended all the plastification because along with convincing women they need all that to be beautiful they have also convinced them they are not good enough if they do it themselves. ::climbs off soapbox::

All that fake stuff, I'm not really a fan of. Sure, a touch of makeup is fine, don't overdo it.

FTR: as a man and what they are doing nowadays, I use no products like gel (although that would be an exercise in futility :D) and cologne. Even when I had hair, didn't use hair products outside of shampoo.

Evening, Lodge!

Went over the parents' today, it was good to see them, finally.
Now watching the storms roll in, which I always enjoy, although I wish the storms could've waited longer. I bought a cigar today to have on the balcony while I was on the (basically) GPL ZoomChat that we have each Saturday...

And pre-ordered my lunch tomorrow from the Greek place. :D Timed it so I can pick it up and still make my reservation time at the local brewery's patio (the restaurant is 30 minutes away). :) I am a happy camper.

Good evening lodge!

the men are watching bsb from some previous yr. It is oppressively humid. T storms rolled through and as it hit us it split neatly in 2 and went round us without a drop. Cooled briefly and then came back with a vengance. I gardened and was sweating so much I had to wipe the puddles off my glasses.

I am thinking moving to the backwoods of Maine might work for me. I walk about 1.25 miles out and back. In that little patch of road, 4 roaring parties with 10+ cars at the house, all different States, on the sidewalk, so I need to go on the road. Then on the other side of the road they are running the sprinkler so I can't walk there either. People suck. Grr.

Light show going on outside right now. No thunder, though.

ETA: Spoke too soon!

We had nasty hot and then a massive front came thru with huge winds and rain late last night. Now we are hovering at 60ish.

Gonna be all the hot tomorrow here, then all the rain on Tue, and then perfect after that. Today was perfect. Local brewery was following all the rules for seating and such, hung out with some friends I hadn't seen in months, PERFECT day for outdoors stuff. I honestly can't even imagine better weather.
