Fund set up for Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player Jack Jablonski paralyzed in game
MINNEAPOLIS — A fund has been set up for a Minnesota high school hockey player paralyzed in a game last week.

Donations can be mailed to the Jack Jablonski Fund, P.O. Box 16387, St. Louis Park, MN 55416-2618. You also can make a donation at any Wells Fargo Bank. Mention the "Jack Jablonski Fund."

Jablonski, a 16-year-old sophomore at Benilde-St. Margaret's, was injured when was checked from behind in a game against Wayzata. His parents say — and hospital neurosurgeons confirm — that he won't be able to walk again.

Some DU alums have gotten a banner made for Jack and it will be available for signing at this Saturday's game at Magness against UAH. The DU Team and staff will sign the banner and then the public will have their chance. The banner will be delivered to Jack when he is able to receive visitors, hopefully, next week.

That's awesome DU! I am sure Jack will love it! I know the Gophers were planning on sending him some signed memorabilia, but the NCAA told them it would be a recruiting violation. How messed up is that :(

On a related note, I have been following his support on Twitter pretty closely, and I have to say that I am SO impressed with how much Jason Zucker has gone out of his way to ask for updates, offer Jack encouragement, etc... What a classy guy and wonderful person he is :)

Re: Please Pray For Jabs

How come DU can apparantly send him an autographed item, but the U of MN cannot? I don't see the difference.

Re: Please Pray For Jabs

Such a sad story, but happy to see there may be some unexpected progress!

I know it doesn't make jack or his family feel any better, but it's amazing and a blessing that this doesn't happen more often than it does.

Also, wonder if word of this has gotten to a guy like Travis Roy? if not maybe someone with BU connections can share the story with him. a guy like travis would have the power to make a huge difference with something as simple as a phone call, and while I don't want to put anything on Travis, he seems like such a classy guy that i have to imagine he'd be willing to do it in a heartbeat

Great point. I know Jack Parker talked to some media outlet about what happened to Jack, and said that he was going to mention it to Travis the next time he saw him. I think that would be great for Jack to see that life doesn't end with stuff like this. I know there is a MNHS coach who is also paraplegic (was paralyzed in a game when he played) who said he is going to reach out to Jack too. Very cool to see all the support for sure :)

Travis knows and has already contacted him.

As for why DU can send stuff and UMTC can't: 1. UMTC wanted to send an autographed jersey, which is an item of significant value compared to a banner 2. UMTC can probably send the jersey now, no problem, now that they know his prognosis, which is very sad to say.

St. Croix Lutheran hockey player Jenna Privette was also seriously injured in a check from behind. She has tingling and feeling in her arms, but not in her legs (yet!) The article also mentions that she does not have any breaks in her spinal cord, which is great news. Everyone keep her in your thoughts, too.

Been praying for Jenna too. Thanks for letting me know about her :)
