Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2014-15 - Bob's 26th work in progress ...

Any insight on the extent of Finney's injury? I though it might be a groin considering how much trouble he had getting up after the both goals he allowed, but they let him stay in skates and on the bench for the rest of the game. I doubt they'd have done that with a groin injury.

I hope he is OK. He surely wasn't the same Finney we saw against Norwich a little over a week ago.
And in general terms, these two weekend games (with the possible exception of the 3rd period of the Williams game) were the two worst Performances by the Cards that I have witnessed in a long, long time. I sure hope it isn't a taste of things to come ala last season.

Heard it is a sprained ankle. No idea how bad.

I first noticed after the first goal. He had a real hard time standing up after the goal. I don't remember anyone from the bench looking at him after the goal. During the second goal, he actually made the first save and couldn't move for the rebound which was put into the empty net. He couldn't get up after that one either.

They replayed it on NSN a few times (the first goal) and you saw his own player get their legs tangled (which is why he couldn't get over). He then skated some and was looking at his pads/skate. I thought maybe a loose strap but then you saw him working on movement. An ankle is better than a knee I guess. I still like my chances with Finney. The team seems to play better with him in net. I'm not sure it's just coincidence that he is 8-0-1 1.79gaa and .935%....his Williams performance was due to injury IMO. He doesn't get hurt I don't see Williams putting up 6. Does that mean that they lose? No....but .....

Until Roli finds some confidence, it's time for Spencer to finish up the season. Can not afford giving up points in the SUNYAC right now.

Agree with everything you said here. My guess on the groin was based on the way he tried to get up. I think if Roli had come in and gotten through the first and the Cards were down just 2-0, it would have been a completely different game. I stated at Primelink weekend that I thought it was time to give up on the rotating goaltender situation. To me, the whole team just looked more stable with Finney in net. After watching on Saturday, I think Rouleau should be pushed back to #3 and probably not see game action again this year. I would consider playing Spencer on Friday if it means having a healthy Finney for the rest of year. I think we're clearly at SUNYAC or bust already - at least the guys better play that way.

I would assume you meant to say play Hubbard on Friday. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Hubbard was starting on Friday, but the only thing is, we can't afford to drop a third in a row, so I believe we are going to see the strongest team out there, that gives the Cards the best chance to win.

If they come to play like they did against Cortland I don't know if it will matter who is in the net. They play much better with a sense of urgency and a little ****** off......

I did mean play Hubbard on Friday. I'm thinking risk/reward: depending on how hurt Finney is, maybe it's worth the risk to play Hubbard on Friday to give Finney two weeks off to heal. It's more important to have a healthy Finney right now than it is to win the SUNYAC regular season title.

Best case: I'm completely off-base, Finney will be fine, and we just forget about this nightmare weekend! At any rate, it's fun to speculate, but we know Emery's mind is on the long-term. He'll do what's best for the team long-term.
