Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

I am a Lakers Fan, however as a young kid that grew up outside Reading PA, I was a HUGE Los Angeles Lakers Fan. I played a little highschool basketball but those days were long long ago :)

Also Vandy will be leaving graduating.

Emery also said Ryan Williams is looking to play some where else, and Emery appreciates Ryan and his honesty and is helping Ryan find a new place to showcase his talent.

Emery didn't know of anyone else leaving just yet, and has 1 defensemen and 4 forwards committed already.
....

Edited my post to add Kyle VanDermale :o

...

We have more sports than just hockey ;)...Football could be home that weekend. I'll have to check the schedule.

...

Hobart isnt terrible anymore since they enclosed it. The players don't go to the bathroom with the fans anymore and the locker room is actually separated a bit from the crowd as well. I dont even know when the last time Plattsburgh went to play a game there. My guess would be the early 2000's or 90's if that?

Drop Skidmore or Williams or both and add EC and Utica or Hobart. :)

Hockey is the REAL sport, anything else is a past-time. ;)

I'm not sure of the last time Plattsburgh went to Hobart, but I know I froze during this one.

Those I talked to at the rink seemed to share my feeling that it was a “poor call”, a poor choice to allow nearly 2 periods of play without calling non-fragrant penalties –
Fragrant penalties do stink!

Wow Bob Baldwin's name and Peter Feoka...aka Ex-Elmira player Peter Feola.

Does Baldwin even ref anymore? I don't think I've seen his name in quite sometime.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

The replay of the game winning goal was on WCAX TV tonight and it showed that Chad Anderson was wide open in front Leis with the nearest Cardinal 20 feet away watching the puck with his other 3 penalty killers. It is not about the call,It is about having your goalies back. These players got caught up in the moment:eek::eek::eek: and screwed the pouch and Norwich capalized on it. This was the only time I saw this the whole game. The Cards had keep the Norwich players in check and covered till then. Parker Carrol was great for this game as he kept the Cadets alive in the first period, where they were outplayed for sure. It could of been 3 to 0 at the end of 1 period. He is 14-0-2 sv% .903 Gaa 1.57 since coming to Norwich at the end of December. His goalie Coach was the same one that Ryan Kingingsmith had in Pennsylvania. It is going to be fun to watch as he goes up agianst B.J.Obrien of SNC with a record of 19-2-1 sv% .931 Gaa1.75. GO WICK:D:D:D

Thanks to everyone. A bumpy yet thrilling ride in 2010-2011. Life wouldn't be much fun if there was any drama to the story. It wasn't a story book ending, but yet another chapter in the long proud history of Cardinal Hockey. For anyone doubting this teams chances in 2011-2012, leave your ticket at the window because on this ship once you get off, we don't want you back. Bob may have called this year a "work in progress", but to quote Sundberg from the 2001 post game NCAA Semi Finals...."we have some unfinished buisness".....

I personally think next years team is going to be more dangours than the one we saw in the second half of the season. If nobody else leaves then we are going to get a full year from Jensen and Craig as linemates with Jobb replacing Satim on that line I would suspect. They will have the core of Defensmen back except for Corry so they have experience there and that will only help Leis even more. I kind of figured Ryan was going to transfer, for 2 reasons not much playing time this year and his girlfriend graduates this year, which is another big loss because I think he pushed Leis to be even better, knowing that he had Williams behind him who could start and take over the 1 spot made him work at keeping it. We are losing some great players and leaders but I think we have the players in the system already to step up and take thier spot so the incoming Freshman are going to be icing on the cake.

To be honest, I think you're shadow-boxing on this one. Not one poster in this thread has argued that the final goal itself wasn't the result of an egregious lapse. As for "caught up in the moment," I suppose this is applicable in the sense that the PK simultaneously made a very bad decision to jump the play assuming a clearance (something I'm guessing was exacerbated by the near-expiration of the penalty). I very highly doubt, however, that anyone on the ice was still preoccupied with the call after 1:50 or so of an apparently successful kill, and I certainly don't think they were suddenly rocked by the pressure of the game; Plattsburgh's now played OT quarterfinals in three consecutive years (and are 1-2 :( ). And if you're correct about the "pouch," then at least I can at least sleep easy knowing area dogs remained safe. ;)

Will be a nice treat for Plattsburgh fans to see the U-18 team at the Stafford. I may have to come up for that one if Norwich doesn't conflict with it.

The US18U game against Oswego my senior year was one of the best games I saw during my four years at Oswego.

I think it was mentioned that the game will be doubly interesting. It'll be the same team playing UVM the night before - they were apparently looking for a second game while they were up here. I'm guessing that means we're getting the A-team and not the "JV" team we saw the last time the U-18 team was here...

Overtime (17:43)
PLT-4 Kyle Kudroch (2-Interference) NRW 3x4 15:46
GW LL Chad Anderson (11) (Kyle Thomas, Blake Forkey) 17:43

Just 3 seconds remaining in that penalty! Almost killed it

Norwich: 3 for 4 on the power play.
Plattsburgh: 1 for 5 on the power play.

On two (2) of Plattsburgh's power play opportunities, they had a combined one shot on goal.

That was the difference maker in Saturday night's game folks.

I'll be the first Plattsburgh fan to admit that if the Cardinals execute on the one man advantage in regulation, we wouldn't have even gone to overtime.

I respect coach Mike McShane. We always have problems creating scoring opportunities on the PP against Norwich. He's figured out Emery's philosophy on the PP.

Congratulations to Norwich. I hope you guys win it all in Minneapolis.

Who do I feel bad for the most? Clarke, Satim, Corry, and Sliasis. Four years of being close, but no cigar.

EDIT: On a positive note, the Cadets couldn't put one on the board when skating at even strength. Who knows what would have happened if a penalty wasn't called.

10-4, the birds did well on the PP at the end of the yr, winning a few games with it, unfortunately the PP --it the bed against the cadets and the penalty killing got schooled as well, they didnt dance with the girl they came with in the end......im sure they will be back with a vengance next yr.......

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

From what I can gather....
10/15/2011 - Early Morning Practice
10/15/2011 - USA Under 18 team
10/22/2011 - Red/White Game
10/28 10/29 - Start of SUNYAC
11/25 - Vs Norwich *Primelink at Middlebury*
11/26 - vs Middlebury/Elmira
12/17?? @ Norwich
Cardinal Classic (Utica, Babson, Castleton)
1/13, 1/14 Castleton, Skidmore
1/20, 1/21 @ Middlebury, @ Williams

New replay screen?? So if its from the same company we can expect to see it working by 2024 if the world doesn't end in 2012...

that looks like a tuffffff schedule, where are the Oz games??

The 12/17 date is guaranteed to be wrong. That would be during finals, and school policy is to not schedule athletic events during the exam period.

No idea, but I can almost guarantee one will be the 27th or 28th of January. It always falls on the Atlantic City Indoor racing weekend.

There is also more balance this year as there are 13 home and 13 away games. However, of those away games:

vs Norwich (at Middlebury)
vs Middlebury/Elmira (at Middlebury)
@ Norwich
@ Middlebury
@ Williams

The start of 2012 will be tough for the Cards
Cardinal Class
Utica, Babson, Castleton (not sure who the pairings are)
Next weekend Castleton, Skidmore
Next weekend @ Middlebury, @ Williams
Next weekend @Cortland, @Oswego (should be)

Hard to say how tough of a schedule it will be....

Williams loses 3 of their 4 scorers, but still has Purdy....
Middlebury?? who knows
Skidemore while not great in 2010, still has a lot left in 2011
Castleton.....verdict still out.....
Babson......will be tough.....
Utica.....had a total of 6 points between their graduating seniors (2) and played in a whole 19 games (combined)
I imagine Curry will be in there somewhere as well....and should rotate to Curry this year, but time will tell.....it will be interesting to see how a full season with the Cardinal JV does for Curry.

I still like our chances in 2011....some big loses, but some key guys back as well. There isn't the flash of Satim (yet), but in todays game you need a lot of blue collar hockey players. While he didn't score a lot Ryan Farnan will be another top player next year. Jensen (X's 2), Craig, Kudo, Vick, Jobb.....not bad. We've seen what Josh can do when he is focused, and losing only 1 defenemen will help big time where it matters most. As I said earlier, I think this is a team that will have something to prove, not sure thats a good thing for opponents.

Noteable Freshman vs Carreer Numbers
Jason Kilcan 24GP: 8-5-13 124GP: 52-83-135
Dave Young 24GP: 1-3-4 99GP: 23-26-49

I know there are more but don't have all the stats.

Sometimes some of the best Cardinals take a while to come into their own....and while they may not be the Bournazakis brothers, if Plattsburgh does land their big recruit these two will be a real force for 3 years together, take it to the bank.

It's pretty much a well-known fact that any player that sticks it out for all four years at Plattsburgh under Emery will almost certainly become a MUCH improved player over their four years.
