Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

nope made me dump it out...

I'm sorry, Remy. I have a five year old and we went to the Potsdam game and they never did that to her because she had some meds with her too. I can understand the patting down, but making your kid dump his medicine is beyond stupid.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

I don't understand the patting down. I didn't get patted down. What is this, a jail? Hale's jail. I brought in a cup of coffee. Who says it wasn't vodka ( I could have used some watching the last 30 seconds of that game)

I was not upset with the campus security rent a cop, but just the dink who goes out of his way Tim Hale. Never got the chance to show my displeasure to the (insert Oswego chant here) ..too bad...and I wont be there in March to let him know again.

I'm sure that there are a lot of people that show your same displeasure.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Did they eventually let you have it, or did you really have to empty it? Yeah I saw Mr. Hale when I got there. Thrilling. I wonder how he felt about the crowd's chantings AGAINST the Platty goalie and AGAINST the team ("Plattsburgh sucks")

Tim Hale wasted his time and breath once to lecture students at the front of the line about our speech being too "unfriendly to the image of Oswego" for 10 minutes. The man is making himself out to look like a power fanatic blowhard who can't resist getting a hand in on the action and spoiling people's fun as much as possible.

It couldn't hurt for the director to show a little more humility and acknowledgment, and stop acting like an arrogant arse (any admin official can do that for that matter) - I sympathize for you Champ.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

That was one thing I noticed both pre and post game. The players, while still half dressed, were interacting with the fans. And then after the game even more so with the fans, especially little kids. You've got to love that.

A very lucky and happy kid got his stick on the way off the ice last night...:D

I remember all of those "conversations" he had with the students. Every year me and my friends would get to the rink early for every game, first or second group in line. He thought that if he told us "others would follow" because of our loyalty to the team, and basically everyone knew our group...the original CC whiteboard crew. We have all since graduated but were there last night, I noticed him walking around but didn't see him speak to the students, guess he thought the e-mail would have worked. It amazes me what he thinks he can control.

Last thing, the only dissapointing thing (well other then the score) was moron Tim Hale. As we approached the entrance to the rink, he ran in and whispered to the campus security to have me frisked. When I was frisked they demanded I empty a juice cup which contained my 1 year old sons medicine for his infection (only way the kid will take it) or I would not be allowed in. What a freakn Pr-I-cK.

This is very unfortunate and I hope that your son was ok going without the medication for the night. I want to THINK that if you actually delt with Tim Hale directly he would have let you in but who knows with the way he works.

He also has stated over and over to us (my group of friends) that the flags of the other teams would be up soon. Well...the original "soon" was back when the CC opened in 2006...its now 2010 and still no flags representing either the SUNYAC teams or ECAC-West Women temas...pathetic if you ask me!

Lucky stiff- I had my cup of Dunkin "re-jected" a few weeks ago. Talk about tight. And that was while wearing an OSU National Champions sweatshirt- ouch!

Agree Tim Hale is over the top. Ya just gotta lighten up a notch Tim.

However, I wouldn't have tried to bring a cup of "medicine" or whatever in, however legit. It's a two-hour game, get the medicine down before or after. You know how things are even at elementary or middle schools today. Not surprising, but sounds singled out to get patted down. Maybe it was the red "EAT S*#@ TIM HALE" sweatshirt the got you in the crosshairs??? ;)

Yes the flags of the other schools should be up there. I think some of the Admin are still laboring under the illusion that it's a "Convocation Center" that doubles as a hockey rink- HA!

Agreed! While the arena is used for avariety of events...Admissions Open Houses, Graduation, Alumni reunion events, concerts, etc...let's be perfectly honest that it is a hockey rink that doubles as a convocation center, not vice versa.

Its freakn meds dude. Yea I know its two hours, but when you are dealing with a 1 year old, oh wait thats Hale, there was nothing wrong with it other then Hale singling out once again. And yes I know about elementary and middle schools, this isnt and I am the PARENT.

But thanks for the shirt idea. Im sure we could come up with something like that for you OSU people who dispise the guy.

Exactly.

If its that big of a deal, take the freaking banners down for the ceremony. Other than that, I dont see what event would need to have the names of our fellow SUNYAC schools be taken down.

It's a joke. Don't even get me started on the fact that all of our SUNYAC championships and NCAA tournament banners are confined to one banner.

Real intimidating that is. Go to Lynah Rink or Norwich's Kreitzberg if you want to see an intimidating rink to walk into with all the banners hanging up.

I still think Norwich coming out oto the ice with smoke and a group of 6-8 cadets holding their swords over the players as they come onto the ice is about the coolest entrance I've seen for a D-III hockey team.

Well when you're Plattsburgh and you have 19, it would take up alot. Of course we could be like Elmira and put a banner for every time we make it into the NCAA's too ;) But in seriousness I agree. Why not take pride in what you have accomplished, even if you are down by 9 in the SUNYAC dept and 1 in the NCAA titles...

Ouch! Left us wide open for THAT one, Prez..... :o

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

I was at the game last night and well...I don't think there is any question that come playoff time, Williams should be the ONLY goaltender in net. I think I'd feel comfortable with Plattsburgh's chances if Leis made starts against say, Morrisville and Buffalo State. I think Leis is still a quality goalie, and would be a no-question starter for many teams, but Emery is huge on putting the team on the ice that gives them the best chance to win, and Williams gives Plattsburgh the best chance to win. Until Williams hits a wall and doesn't perform, you have to say he's the new number one.

As mentioned before, Williams looked much more comfortable in net. On the Lakers' first shot of the game, Leis looked nervous and rattled. On the ensuing goal, Leis was a little out of position, and it looked from my vantage point like he was nervous and fighting the puck. I was very happy Emery removed him, because it was evident he wasn't comfortable and needed to try something different. I thought it was the right move.

Other thoughts on the game...this is the second time I've seen Platty this year in person. I thought they hung with the Lakers. Oswego has so much firepower, they are just dangerous. That Fox-Selleck-Laganiere line is dangerous, although I will say, I think Fox and Selleck really help Laganiere, kinda like what Joey Wilson did for Sliasis last year.

Musselwhite is fast...and annoying lol. I am so glad he's a senior. A couple of Platty players match his speed, I believe, but he's a very good player, who seems to have worked really hard to get to where he is.

I wasn't impressed with KGT. He left the net open a lot, but Plattsburgh had no clue how to find the back of the net on chances Oswego would have buried. Coming out in the first and third periods with his hands raised like he was some MMA fighter killed me. I think he is goofy.

The atmosphere was terrific. Oswego fans (students) were great. I wish the Plattsburgh students were this way. I thought the chants, even the A-Hole chants, were fine, not vulgar for children at all, but not watered down. Rooting against Plattsburgh was fine...a job well done...plus they were classy, no one being a jerk cuz I wore red or anything like that, unlike Potsdam fans lol. As a matter of fact, I was ashamed at that moron kid who spit in the whiteout towel on the fam cam. That was disgusting and a little too far. Pretty classy. Not to mention the f-bombs she was dropping (I can read lips).
--------------------------------------------------------I think I agree with some of your comments but I had a few of my own that I wanted to make. First, I thought it was disrespectful for the Oswego players to move constantly during the Naional Anthem and to leave the line and start skating toward the bench before the anthem was completed. Also, thought that perhaps their style of aggressiveness and lack of discipline on the ice would have improved since last year with the new commers. We all remember Ward Smith"s attack. The major penalty and also punch to Ryan Corey's face did not show such discipline. Concerning the game, yes without a doubt they have some talented forwards but defensively, I was not impresssed. They don't handle the puck well and especially when they are pressured in their end. Goaltending, also does not impress me. He doesn' t handle the puck well and looks good when he doesn't have much pressure, like when they play Buffalo State. He can be had. I thought had one of the shots off the post or crossbar gone in for the Cards, it might have turned out differently. Having said all that, I will give my positives now. Great atmosphere, kids were fine, having a good time. Even let me ahead in line for a coffee. Rink is superb and good acoustics. Overall a good game to watch. Look forward to another visit to Oswego in March.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

The first goal would not have happened had he controlled he rebound on the initial shot...

he had major rebound control problems.....but thought he made some nice stops as well as williams, and KGT was very well positioned and did well with his rebounds, also handles the puck well..should b fun soon, at the suny's

Missed chance #1 to have that thrown back in my face.:D

I heard it coming from you, didn't hear a single curse word and cheer on dude! Welcome to Hale Arena. Nothing that came out of your mouth should warrant that, but then again its Hale's world. We get the same thing now in Plattsburgh. Now you can see why us old school fans get so P'd Off at this new school crap.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

I know that some Oswego fans aren't pleased with some parts of the CC rink, but I thought it was amazing. I wanted to see it a couple of years ago when I was on a job interview there, but they showed me Romney instead (why????--sidetracking a little, I have no clue how they played hockey games in that, but I bet it was exciting!)
