Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

How about Mark Coletta? He has been coaching in Canada. Not sure the $$ would be enough to draw him back to the Burgh.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

I mentioned Coletta to somebody yesterday !! I think Bob likes him, but the $$ could be a problem. I'm sure he has played this out in his mind a million times and has already contacted the people on his short list. It might be nobody for now, with Fessette and Wood stepping up their roles??

Yeah, on the surface that seems like a tough sell... Asking a guy from British Columbia to give up a Head Coaching job at a a university in his home town (which plays in the BCIHL because Simon Fraser University is actually a member of NCAA DII), and asking him to do this for an assistant coaching position at a DIII University in the middle of nowhere?

"Tough Sell" is probably being generous.

Although it certainly wouldn't be as tough a sell as Joe Ferras... Who just completed his 10th season as a Head Coach in the Central Hockey League

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

Wonder if Jacques Lemaire would be interested in coming back to Plattsburgh... :D

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

Jacques could be available...he's spotted from time to time mooring his boat by the Naked Turtle. I saw him last summer with his little granddaughter.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

How about Jim Duran ? Probably another tough sell however.

GO CARDS !!

In 2009, Steve's salary was $38,910 which was raised to $41,966 for 2011 and 2012, plus there are NYS employee benefits, it will be interesting to see who they can bring in.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

I do believe he had another job at the school during the day. So the salary is not a true reflection of just coaching I think....

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

That's twice as much as Herb Hammond made as Head Coach back in the '80's !! I think Jacques got a whopping 12K !!

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

rumor that i heard today is that one of the Middlebury assistants was offered the position

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

The Middlebury assistant that I'm thinking of is highly regarded by the Cardinals and would be a superb acquisition. Hope it happens, but I'm wondering if that's an upward career move??
I also wonder if Moffat brings in any ex-Cards as assistants. I think Terry Moran is still there as an assistant. I had him as a coach at the St. Lawrence hockey school back in the early 70's, so he's certainly got experience !!!!

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

I think this edition of the Cardinals will have some pressure to win this year. More than usual. You can see how the team has been constructed with an eye towards one big run at the National Championship. Senior All-American goalie, loads of talent and speed. I think anything less this year would be a bit of a letdown. I know there are a lot of good teams out there that we know about (and some we don't).

They need to know the importance of EVERY game and avoid the costly hiccups that cost them dearly in the end. They should have enough experience now to handle that last hurdle. Let's get off to a good start and demolish some teams early and get on a season-long roll.

couldnt agree more, from the net out there is a ton of talent and plenty of experience,I start with the net because he is the guy on any team that can steal a game or more. The team is well rounded with good speed size and depth, the only thing that is missing is Docking, and as a Oz fan cant say I will miss him, he always seemed to block a shot or got in the way or assist on a goal,he seemed to spark the team as well.Lets hope the injury bug stays away.
