Plattsburgh vs. Utica criteria
Winning Pct. - Plattsburgh
SOS - Plattsburgh
COP - Plattsburgh
RNK - Plattsburgh
L25 - Utica
Now, do we still think Utica would be the choice over Plattsburgh for a Pool C ??
Interesting,Rem. Not giving up on those Birds just yet!One thing people are forgetting is that besides Utica, everyone else has to lose a game with some common opponent of Plattsburgh (Babson/Norwich) (Genny/OSU).....a loss by Babson, Utica and Oswego could easily drop them below Plattsburgh again. And if Trin Trin, Norwich, Geneseo, SNC and St Thomas all win their league whos next? So glad some of you gave up hope already....
WCAX sports did a nice clip tonight on Plattsburgh Women's hockey senior goalie Sydney Aveson
I had some spare time tonight. I also had a curiosity. All year I've watched Norwich's SOS exceed ours and just couldn't figure out why. So I did some plugging. I plugged and plugged and plugged. I compared each opponent that either team played....side by side. Using the KRACH DII/DIII combined rankings for each team I paired them off. One by one by one. You'll never guess what I found out !!!
I challenge the KRACH SOS numbers using their own rankings against them. I can prove they're wrong. That would swing the Norwich-Plattsburgh comparison even more in Plattsburgh's favor. I know it's "set in stone" and "already decided", but if this data is what the NCAA is looking at, this process needs to be looked at closer.

The No. 1 Plattsburgh State women’s hockey team outscored Utica 10-0 in a two-game sweep during the regular season.
But in playoff hockey, the past is irrelevant.
That’s the approach the Cardinals (23-1-1) will take when they face the Pioneers (17-8-1) in the first of two ECAC West semifinals at Stafford Ice Arena Saturday.
No. 2 Elmira College will also face Oswego with a trip to the conference championship on the line.
“When we approach an opponent for a second or third time, we certainly throw past results out the window,” Plattsburgh coach Kevin Houle said. “In the 8-0 win, it could’ve been a different game. They had two or three golden opportunities early. If they capitalized, it’s a different game.
“In the 2-0 game, it was anybody’s game. They’re coming in with nothing to lose and everything to prove. We have to be on our game to beat them.”
Fourteen days separate the Cardinals’ last game, a 2-0 win over Oswego, and their upcoming conference semifinal Saturday. It marks the second-longest layoff of the season.
“Either way, there’s nothing we can do about it,” Houle said on Thursday. “We’ve worked real hard the last 11 or 12 days. We competed real hard in practice. Everybody’s healthy. It is what it is, so the layoff is no concern.”
Utica is 11-6-1 since returning from its semester break Jan 3. While the Pioneers average 3.23 goals per game, the team rallies around senior goaltender Jennifer Hamel.
In 64 career games, Hamel sports a 2.17 goals-against average to go along with a .920 save percentage.
“She’s a very capable goalie,” Houle said. “She’s played extremely well against us in the past. Beyond that, Utica is an excellent hockey team. They have as much talent, in my opinion, as anybody in the conference.
“We have to get a lot of shots on net and create second- and third-chance opportunities just to beat her. She’s a quality goalie. But we’re not looking at Utica like they just have a great goalie. We’re looking at the whole picture here. They’re an excellent club.”
Senior forward Megan Myers (19-20-39), freshman forward Gabrielle Schnepp (15-12-27) and sophomore forward Morgan Reed (11-14-25) lead Utica in scoring. Myers has 143-career points on 74 goals and 69 assists.
The Pioneers are 15.7 percent (18-of-115) on the one-player advantage and 85.6 percent (119-of-139) on the penalty kill.
Plattsburgh, which received hosting rights for the ECAC West Tournament by virtue of a coin flip, is currently ranked No. 1 in the D3hockey.com and USCHO polls and was top-ranked in the final NCAA regional rankings released Tuesday.
The Cardinals are 6-0-0 in their last six outings, outscoring their opponents by a 27-6 margin during that span.
Shannon Stewart (14-16-30), Bridget Balisy (13-17-30), Chelsea VanGlahn (12-17-29), Giovanna Senese (13-13-26) and Jordan Caldwell (11-14-25) are Plattsburgh’s top point-getters.
Goaltender Sydney Aveson, who was recently named the ECAC West Player of the Year, enters the postseason with a 17-1-1 record with 13 of her 17 victories coming in the form of shutouts. Aveson leads the country with a 0.37 goals-against average after giving up just seven goals during the regular season.
“Syd is somebody that doesn’t get rattled,” Houle said. “She’ll be on her game. She’s been here before. The team will play accordingly in front of her, too.”
Each of the two semifinal winners from Saturday’s games will advance to the ECAC West championship game Sunday afternoon.
Houle doesn’t think his team will get caught looking ahead to rival Elmira, which is favored to beat Oswego on paper.
“We’re more concerned with taking one game at a time, and that’s Utica on Saturday,” Houle said. “We feel we have the four best teams remaining in our conference tournament. It should be a great weekend of hockey.”

You have made your point crystal clear. I for one will stick with the Admiral until the fat lady sings.Well, they can stop practicing now.... I don't see how they can be below Utica, but #6 or #7 in the east just doesn't matter. A bitter end to a very promising season. And the wasted use of a goaltender capable of winning a National Championship.
I for one will stick with the Admiral until the fat lady sings.

I actually don't think anyone will want to play Plattsburgh in the tourney period. They would come in off back-to-back losses to their biggest rival at home and as you said, did not meet the seasons expectations. Those factors will make them very dangerous if they get in. That said Cadieux gave up some untimely soft goals down the stretch and he would have to clean that up to give the Cards a chance.Hey, I'm not going to stop cheering for them if they get in. I'm bitterly disappointed in a team that I said all year was good enough to win the whole thing collapsed down the stretch (mostly at home) to seemingly have no chance to even get in. I still think no one in the tournament wants to see Cadieux get a chance to play.
