Pictures of Your Arena

Re: Pictures of Your Arena

They at least have a beer garden at Lakeview for Ranger games. Hopefully the city would keep it open to make a mint during an NMU/MTU game.

Michigan Tech's John J. MacInnes Student Ice Arena. You can see the eight man ref system warming up.

Re: Pictures of Your Arena

Whatever, there in no reason to design an arena the way they did...that place and CC seating is very similar which tells me its a style choice, not a requirement to meet all of those other things...Why not have a full bowl? or have a horseshoe with nothing on one end?

The original design called for a full bowl, but they didn't have the room for it with all the other stuff they needed to cram into the building footprint. Hence, the two large endzones....

Which really aren't as bad to sit in as the pictures would have you believe. The arena has good sightlines all over.

To get a better idea of the building and arena layout, you have to see how it fits into the surrounding area- especially with apartment buildings on one side, an art building on the other, and lax stadium and unaffiliated event center adjacent, it's a tight squeeze but works pretty well. There's also tons of offices (health center, athletics administration, fitness rooms) on the upper levels.

I must say, as much as I hate to give anything to UND, I'm very jealous of that arena... (and the loyalty for that matter, but I'm less inclined to disclose that).

I'll snag a few pictures of the Mullins Center this weekend. I think it would be cool for tUMD fans to post the old DECC rink in contrast with the new rink so we could see how upgraded it was and how the two compare.

Re: Pictures of Your Arena

I love the shots. Thank you to all who have posted.

Anyone have shots of SLU's Appleton Arena, Lynah and/or Princeton? Thanks again.

In case anyone was wondering, our (RPI's) banners are behind the photographer on the back wall. We only hang our 3 ECAC championships, 2 NCAA championships, as well as a banner for our women's club hockey championship. There is also a Ring of Honor for important figures in our history. Right now it has Adam Oates, Joe Juneau, Ned Harkness, Frank Chiarelli, and Bob Brinkworth.
