Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

It's over!!!

Penn State pulls off a 3 set comeback, the first ever in their 102 match streak.

Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

if bakunin was around, i'd tell him that most of those student athletes are playing with a smooth flooring as well. :cool:

Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

One more and they'll tie the hockey team's record! :D :rolleyes: :p

Congrats to Texas - heck of a battle by the Lady Longhorns.

Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

The seniors are leaving with 3 titles and a 102 game winning streak. That's sick.

Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

Anyone know the all-time winning streak record in the NCAA, regardless of division, sport, gender, etc? Just curious.

What was that DIII football team (IIRC)? They had a very long streak. Wasn't GVSU, maybe it was Union? Or Mount Union (the school Pierre Garcon is from).

Cael Sanderson was something like 150-0 in his four years of wrestling at Iowa State.

Re: Penn State Volleyball on life support

Middlebury won 5 straight D-III hockey titles == Bemidji won 4 straight in D-II.

Mount Union won 55 straight.

Wikipedia says Penn State's 102 is second to:

College Football (Women's)

169 games—1986-1990 North Carolina

* Streak started September 30, 1986
* Streak ended September 17, 1990

Major sports streak would be Penn State, followed by UCLA's 88 game steak under Coach Wooden.

Outstanding game.

That was one of the better sporting events I've watched...glad I flipped the channel at the right time.

Women's college football? Wow. I never knew, really. :eek:

Thanks for the stats.

ESPN was showing a count-up of all the streaks throughout the season, but I think it was just D1. The largest they showed was 154 by Miami, FL tennis in the early fifties.

Trinity men's squash has the best in the history of college varsity athletics, 202 the last count I could find, but squash is only an NCAA sport for women, not men.

I used to play and coach and have watched a lot of high end VB and that may have been the best yet. Sorry I tuned in as late as I did. Two amazing teams playing an amazing match. :eek:
