Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

My son's 6th grade chorus concert a couple of years ago was completely Michael Jackson songs.

I thought it was at best a curious decision by the choir teacher, all things considered.

Of course this was in lieu of Christmas or even Holiday songs, coz that would be wrong for some reason...

Child molester (allegedly) = A-okay!

Years of American tradition = offensive or hurtful.

At the school I taught at in Alaska (K-12), the year before I got there the middle school social studies teacher had his class sing Hank Williams Jr's "Family tradition" at the Christmas program. (And yes, it is still called a Christmas program there. One of the joys of living in an extremely homogeneous community; these things can be agreed upon.)

Edit: If you're not a little shocked at singing "Family Tradition" at a school event, look up the lyrics. :)

My wife and I played that song at our wedding. (Not as the first dance, but still)

My school does it where all types of Christmas songs are done. Funny, traditional, religious. Hannuakah and Kwanza get a song or two and everyone is happy. No need to have Christmas ripped out of the program.

Hank, Why do you drink?
*TO GET DRUNK!!*
Hank, why do you roll smoke"
*TO GET HIGH!!*
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
*TO GET LAID!!*

Yeah, I'm not so sure that song should be sung by middle schoolers.
