Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

The University, via the President, already accepted the NCAA deal, why does it matter what the Trustees do now? If they make a stink about it, don't they realize that the only thing that could come of it is the NCAA getting ****ed off and adding more sanctions?

I really do hope that the idiots at Pedo State keep raising hell and the NCAA does get ****ed off.

I think they originally thought that would be enough (which is why it hasn't been done yet), but they have nutcases on their own board and the size of the fine created some gray area where the board might have to approve it like any other one time $60 million expenditure. (new construction, for example)

So they'll vote 28-4 to accept the decree and hope like hell that another set of PSU alumni don't go full retard and start filing more lawsuits in the vain hope that they can go more than three days without leading the news.

Makes sense, since everyone knows the first thing those dirty commies do when they take over is, umm, punish people of child sexual abuse coverups?
Not even particularly original. I remember Brian Bosworth after he was suspended many years ago with a t-shirt saying

National
Communists
Against
Athletes

Wonder why they didn't play the "Nazi" card, so that we could have the oxymoronic term "Nazi Communists ..."

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

What impact would this have on the school?

It shouldn't. Unless of course they covered this up as well. If that's the case... Oh boy... I would actually put money on the school being shut down. Honestly.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

I can't imagine this having been covered up. I just picture they didn't know.

As for this mess...any shot ESPN ever makes a 30 for 30 type of special off this mess?

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Giving Eric Dickerson a car stuffed with $100 bills doesn't make me want to alternate between vomiting and throwing **** at the TV.

I own a copy of the 9/11 commission report. I've read it twice, I believe. I have zero interest in watching recaps of that day (complete with people burning alive jumping out 80th story windows) if I don't have to.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

So serious question.

Say hypothetically one of the top guys in the the Boy Scouts of America did all that Sandusky did. And there was a coverup by other top members of the organization.

Would folks here support gutting a big portion of the Boy Scouts, cut funding, and weakening it significantly for a decade or two with the impact of taking its reputation down indefinitely?

Replace Boy Scouts with Catholic Church and you have your answer.

If that were the case, I would be ashamed of the organization. I would stop supporting them. Although I suppose it would depend on how high up the ladder the coverup went. If it was at the top, yes, they should be punished as an organization. If it was just a Troop and the Council wasn't aware or the overall leadership wasn't aware, then I'd support disbanding the Troop.

Absolutely. Gut 'em.

I agree. I also agree that if it was a troop doing something wrong, with no evidence that the BSA knew about it, then disband the troop and arrest the people involved. The BSA isn't comparable to PSU, it's more comparable to the NCAA in this sense.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Why are we even discussing this hypothetical? Wait, I get it. BSA won't allow gay scouts or leaders. And they're relgion based. Nevermind.

What if it turned out a senior aide to a POTUS was arrested giving blowies in the DC YMCA and the President sent out a guy he would subsequently name to the Supreme Court to kill the story? What then?

I was going to ask the question, "What if the democratic party covered up child rape?" then I realized it's a stupid question to even ask in the first place.

A hypothetical from the perfervid imagaination of a reliably incoherent poster.

Just stretching the boundaries of the organization is all and was looking for an organization with a pretty solid rep already to test.

If you don't want to deal with opinion and hypotheticals...then you are free to leave.

Remember, certain posters think that certain hypotheticals are attacks on their lifestyle. Regardless of how random a the choice of a solid reputation organization is.

One wonders if the KKK was chosen, he would react the same- since they don't allow gays and they, too, are religious based (according to them, at least).

Or maybe a better hypothetical- the Mormon Church. Same restrictions (which is obvious). Is that now a bad example, since it's now political?

Penn State was as good as worshiped.

Personally, if ANY organization was found to hide anything like this, they should fry. Again, the people claiming they are innocent are also the ones that the school profits from BECAUSE of football, which means the cover up was to keep their money flowing in.
