PC Friars: 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: PC Friars: 2010-2011 Season Thread

According to Friartown Free Press:

Women's Hockey quick feeds: O'Neill, Ruff to split the C

According to a press release on the program's official website, Jean O'Neill and Alyse Ruff will serve as the Friars' co-captains this season. Meanwhile, their classmate Amber Yung and junior stopper Genevieve Lacasse will each wear an "A." This marks the first time a PC goalie has worn a letter of leadership since Jana Bugden wore the "C" in 2006-07. Also, these are the most letters to be passed around the Skating Sorority since four were worn in 2007-08 (by Rachel Crissy, Kelli Doolin, Sarah Feldman, and Jenna Keilch).

RMU knocked off PC 5-4. PC scored first and but fell behind 5-2 before scoring two late goals and almost tying in the last minute.

Re: PC Friars: 2010-2011 Season Thread

Friars beat RMU 5-2 and outshot them 49-22 - strong effort start to finish.

Nice win for the Friars today. The forwards showed some pretty good speed. Does anyone know why O'Neill was not on the ice today?

According to this http://friarfacts.blogspot.com/, Jean will be out for some games.

No timetable has been determined for the return of Jean O’Neill, injured late in Saturday’s game after inserting a hat trick the previous night. Odds are she will be out for a while, missing the forthcoming home dates with St. Lawrence and Clarkson at the very least.

Big week ahead on the Road to NY State but last week's efforts were honored.

What does the comment mean?

I think loosely translated, it means that some people have so much time on their hands they can draw pictures with the keyboard the rest of us are hard pressed to find time to use for anything other than work:)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's ice hockey junior Kate Bacon (Chanhassen, Minn.) has been named Hockey East's Pure Hockey Player of the Week for games held the weekend of October 8 through October 10.

Bacon had a tremendous weekend against two ECAC foes. On Saturday (10/9) she netted her first career hat trick, including one power-play goal and one short-handed strike, to lead the Friars to a 6-1 victory over visiting St. Lawrence.

On Sunday (10/10), Bacon scored her fourth goal of the weekend, an unassisted tally that helped PC beat Clarkson, 5-0, at Schneider Arena. On the season, Bacon now has five goals through four games.

Great I think she may have also had a Hat Trick in one of the games against McGill (originally I think one was exhibition and one was real but now both are exhibition so doesn't count). I watched her in the Robert Morris series and she has absolutely blinding acceleration and speed across the nuetral zone - she looks strong and healthy and is playing with great confidence great to see!

Providence 4-1 over Syracuse. They looked good against a tough Syracuse - lots of penalties in the game.

Re: PC Friars: 2010-2011 Season Thread

Providence came back to win 2-1 in OT at Colgate. Down 1 at the start of the thrid PC had a big third and OT. Anderson had tieing goal and Ruff put in the winner. Lacasse had another great game in goal.

Haven't seen Miss Anderson play in college, but from looking at the stats both this year and last, and from what I saw when she played summer hockey back in Minny, she's proving to be a great find for Providence. Perhaps a little overlooked coming out of Shakopee High School, which is not a traditional hockey power in Minnesota.
