Pardon My Narcissism...

Handyman

Hug someone you care about...
I just wanted to say to those of you around here that I consider friends or polite adversaries or whatever...thank you for the discourse over the years. It has been fun and educational the last 20+ years and while I know I am a bit of a jerk I really appreciated you all. I have been posting about politics on this board since Dubya's first term...a lot has changed since then.

This one broke me. I didn't think it would, I am not that type of person but I couldn't even make it through the early closings my mental health went completely in the toilet so I blocked it all out. Got a few updates here and there from the SO but honestly I just couldn't do it. That is why I wasn't around here like in 2020 it was literally making me ill even thinking about it...honestly even now I struggle just to form sentences my soul is so crushed. The country knows who he is and what he stands for, and gave all of us that care about others the middle finger.

Anyways, I am not saying I won't be around or I wont post on this stuff in the future but if I am not for a bit just know it is cause I don't think my soul can take it right now. Arguing over the minutiae just seems so pointless when half the country just said basic human decency can go phuck itself...again.

Hug someone you care about...and pray we are all wrong.

Good luck getting through this. This one has hit me hard, too. I don’t expect such an outcome, but I need to keep soldiering on. I’ve already had initial discussions with my wife about reducing spending by about $4,000/yr, assuming the economists are anywhere near correct regarding the tariffs’ impact on our wallets. Tough times, to be sure.

Hang in there, Handy - take all the time you need, but I will miss you terribly while you are gone. You are one of the brightest spots on the board and I learn a ton from you.

Be Well,

LynahFan

Right there with you Handy. I am dark on National News, deleted Twitter, and am not open to discussing any opinion on any topic that is political anywhere.

You are a good soul, Handy, and a poster we all value. Give yourself whatever space you need, then rejoin us. We will show that we have the resolve necessary to weather this storm.

+1.

Hard to fathom people would choose a person who has not shown a shred of care for them, other than sharing their hate. Especially minorities.

You may want to give Threads a try, if you haven’t already. It’s easier to filter out the junk and bots.

Hang in there. I suggest you go see the Wild at Xcel, have some beers, and take your mind off things. They’re obviously going really good this year.

For those women who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to take care of your daughters when they bleed out in the parking lot without receiving medical care. It is yours.

For those Palestinian-Americans who didn't vote for Harris, it is not my responsibility to take care of your people when Trump allows Israel to "finish the job" (and I strongly support Israel). It is yours.

For those Latinos who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about your neighbors being deported. It is yours.

To those Black folks who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about police killing Blacks willy-nilly. It is yours.

To those who did not save properly who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about how you will support yourselves without social security (selfishly, I have enough saved up to live without it). It is yours.

To those who will lose their insurance when ACA and Medicare are eliminated (selfishly, I can afford some kind of insurance), it is not my responsibility to worry about your financial ruin when you get terribly sick or injured. Or can't get care at all. It is yours.

To those union workers who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about whether you lose your job or benefits or sane working hours. It is yours.

To those who were so concerned about the economy refusing to look at the bigger picture who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility when you suffer from runaway inflation and debilitating recession (selfishly, I can take that hit). It is yours.

I made what I believed to be the right, moral, justified decision. I can sleep well at night. Because I will no longer worry about any of you who voted for Trump. It is no longer my responsibility.

This, a million times this. I’ll step over your bleeding uterus on the floor as I pass you and I’ll toss a few bacon strips at the deportation line.

Handy, after my Dad passed away I took more than 2 years away from the board. I just didn't have any interest in much of anything. Take all the time you need, be well, and care for yourself.

We deserve the government we choose. We simply aren't a serious nation.

The saddest thing for me is realizing too late that I did have choices/options in my life at one point. Now it's too late, for a myriad of reasons. And realizing too late that giving a shit about anyone else would get me anywhere.

I can't change the former, but I can change the latter.

Lots of Reddit posts about people reporting any maga people they know with undocumented family

I hope it’s true and I hope they’re all reported

au revoir, shoshanna!

Harris' speech yesterday was really well done. But between that and other comments I hear from people..I totally get what they're trying to say but man, I need time to mourn. To disconnect for a bit. And I'll tell you, my sympathy for what I'm going to feel for those that voted for him and then will be affected by what he's going to do is down to zero. I want to laugh at them when they realize the price of eggs is going to go up. I want to offer rides to the airport when people will wind up being deported. Those idiots that voted for him have no idea what is going to happen. If I wasn't so upset about the fact that I was very soon to start collecting on my social security, I'd be more inclined to speak out but I'm terrified for my future right now.

I don't want to leave here as it has been one place of sanity for me in this crazy world. Handy - I hope you plan to engage at some point down the road.

I will be honest, it is not the actual Dump voters that I don’t have empathy for anymore. It is the people who didn’t vote, or voted for a third party, and are now saying “it’s not going to be that bad” that I’ve really lost my empathy for.

Hey Russ,

For those women who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to take care of your daughters when they bleed out in the parking lot without receiving medical care. It is yours. - A lot of daughters bleeding out from getting procedures done after the 26 week (6.5 months) 'BAN' that NH has? Or the up to birth 'BAN' that MA enshrined into the State Constitution? Any daughters bleed out during Gender transition surgeries?

For those Palestinian-Americans who didn't vote for Harris, it is not my responsibility to take care of your people when Trump allows Israel to "finish the job" (and I strongly support Israel). It is yours. Did you say the same thing to Vietnamese Americans who voted for Lyndon Johnson? Japanese-Americans who voted for FDR?

For those Latinos who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about your neighbors being deported. It is yours. How about if that neighbor was an illegal from Angola? Or are you racially profiling that all Latinos live together and can't afford to live in YOUR neighborhood?

To those Black folks who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about police killing Blacks willy-nilly. It is yours. Wouldn't Trump want more 'Black Folks' to vote for him? Maybe he is planning to sell "Hands up, Don't Shoot, I voted for Trump shirts? So the PO-Po can tell them apart? You know, he is all about the Benjamins.

To those who did not save properly who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about how you will support yourselves without social security (selfishly, I have enough saved up to live without it). It is yours. You have enough? Sounds like someone didn't pay your fair share.

To those who will lose their insurance when ACA and Medicare are eliminated (selfishly, I can afford some kind of insurance), it is not my responsibility to worry about your financial ruin when you get terribly sick or injured. Or can't get care at all. It is yours. Will all the Doctors and Nurses get rounded up in the same interment camps as the Queer daughters of some posters?

To those union workers who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility to worry about whether you lose your job or benefits or sane working hours. It is yours. Did you worry about the same Union Workers made jobless when their companies off-shored during Clinton? Or Obama?

To those who were so concerned about the economy refusing to look at the bigger picture who voted for Trump, it is not my responsibility when you suffer from runaway inflation and debilitating recession (selfishly, I can take that hit). It is yours. Can you outline showing concern for Joey voters during the runaway inflation the past 4 years?

I made what I believed to be the right, moral, justified decision. I can sleep well at night. Because I will no longer worry about any of you who voted for Trump. It is no longer my responsibility. Sounds very "Moral". Do you like your Eucharist in Dorito flavors?

Appears you left a lot of citizens off your list.

Did you forget about the Asian's? None of them voted for him? Probably not because the Dems (at Harvard, Cornell, Yale) stood up for them on the admissions quota thing?

You left out the Amish? They voted for Trump in Droves. Let me guess, no electric buggies for them?

Native Americans? They supported him to. Are you kicking them off the reservation as well?

99.1% of all abortions occur before the 22nd week, and the vast majority of the rest are done because there was adverse risk to the mother. gfy
