Michigan running the table is the most likely scenario. Not surprised that most people are projecting the Sioux and Gophs in GR. I expected that all along.
Cloudies would have a tough bracket as well.

I can't get over UML and Wisconsin most likely meeting in round one. That game is worthy of a FF game at least right now.

I think you've got it backwards. Numbers isn't saying Michigan would be <em>worse</em> than 15th, s/he's saying they'd be <em>better</em> than 15th. Arguably, on form, Michigan would be in the top four and maybe better.

The January 1 pairwise had 10 (11 if Notre Dame wins) of the 16 teams - and two from the AHA. It was Robert Morris instead of Canisius.

I see many of the "experts" are thinking bracket integrity wins out (BC goes west/UND or ND come east). Will be interesting to see what the committee does.

I think too many changes to correct the seedings results in too much loss in integrity. If Michigan wins, Minnesota State and Union are tied for 11th. By simply reversing the order in this pairing you get a result that needs no changes at all. Not a single conflict results. 5 BC/11t Minn State, 6 North Dakota/11t Union, 7 UNH/10 Niagara, 8 Notre Dame/ 9 Denver. That way the only non exact pairings would be because of UNH hosting and that results in both UMass-Lowell and UNH in Manchester, both schools a very short car ride away.

I like how the Regionals become the conference finals we all wanted to see: WCHA in GR, CCHA in Toledo, HE in Manchester and ECAC/AHA in Providence. I could see some shuffling with the 3-seeds (Mankato in Toledo, DU in Providence (a flight is a flight) and Union in Manchester) but I think you've pretty much nailed it. Which means the committee will do something entirely different!

Great observation but should we be playing conference finals all over again? I think not. The priority should be avoiding interconference rivalry. We are putting possibly the only two ECAC teams in the same region and makes it impossible for both of these two teams to try and advance to the Frozen Four which they are both capable of doing. This is the strongest ECAC field in many years. Unfortunately this year they keep knocking each other off.

We are doing the same disservice (mild term for what I was going to write) that the NCAA did two years ago when UNION and YALE where put in the same region with Duluth and both lost to Duluth, the eventual NCAA champ. Money cannot be the driving force here. How about the NCAA putting the players interest first for once. Send Union to Manchester or out west. Put them and BC back in Toledo. Money motivation has ruined college sports.

I'm a CCHA fan but not a Michigan fan. All Minny fans should be in church this morning praying for a Notre Dame victory. They are a freight train on a mission. If they get in, they will make it to the the FF.

One scenario has this happening. It would be nice to see Lowell do to them what BC did a few years back, when they sent the Badger juggernaut back to Madison with a 5-0 thrashing in the Championship game. I'm sure the Badgers will similarly come east with a 'we-just-have-to-show-up-and-we'll-win' mindset.

Dear Dutchman,

I understand your feelings about ECAC teams matched in the same regionals. It often happens that Minnesota and NoDak end up in the same regional as well.

However, I would like to point out that these arrangements have nothing to do with the Committee thinking at all about 2 ECAC schools, either good or bad. The final, actual bracket is actually the result a very well-regulated thought process. The committee has little choice in the matter until the very end. When they get to choices, where 2 ECAC schools go has little import. Nor does, "Did these 2 teams just play Saturday?" It happens often that we see Conf Champ re-matches in the Region finals. Those things are not part of the list of priorities...

It sounds to me as if what you want for your team is:
1) Keep us in the East
2) Don't put us in the same bracket as QU

If that were the priority for the committee, it could be done. But, it's not.

By the way, my bracket has Union in Toledo, no matter what happens today.

With the Yale fans kneeling along side! And then we get to play each other if our prayers are answered. Notre Dame is the last team to beat them and did it four times this year, so we have that going for us.

Not me, I will take a Minnesota vs Michigan matchup, the Gophers play much better against teams like Michigan. I'm sure it would be a very entertaining game.

I'm not worried about Lowell's mindset but I think adapting to the play of teams they haven't seen will be the biggest factor. That being said...

This Badger team isn't going to look past anyone, this is a team who had to win the conference autobid to just get in.
