Raise your hand if you wrote these guys off after the loss to the Lions.
Not me. I wrote them off when they were 3-3, had already lost a handful of key guys, and we weren't sure about Matthews' hamstring.

I'm still sitting here trying to figure out how they did it with so many reserves and several street free agents playing key roles.

I never imagined when I first joined the interweb back in '97 that it would take this long for gbp12xchmp to finally become obsolete!!!

When Bill Jartz introduces the Packers on game day it will sound strange to hear "Your 13 time World Champion Green Bay Packers" instead of 12 time, but I guess I'll just work at getting used to it.

It's going to be interesting next season (whenever that might be) because the expectations are going to be thru the roof. This season we thought and hoped they could. Next season a lot of people will figure they should, which is tough because Championships are never a forgone conclusion. It's not like they got nothing but good luck with injuries or really easy playoff matchups, but still things have to go right. If you think back to 1996 and 1997 when they were undoubtedly the best team in the league, the win was euphoric because it had been a full generation but knowing they were the best team in football and should win the loss the next season felt as bad as the previous year's win felt good. That's certainly a possibility for next season if they aren't careful.

Agreed. But I'd say expectations were pretty high this year too. And I think it helps that Grant and Finley are coming back having not been a part of things this year, might help to avoid some of the complacency.

I was just watching Around the Horn and I don't know why but I think it finally fully set in when I saw the "I'm going to Disney!" commercial. Holy crap! World Champs baby!

Go Pack Go (just for you Brenthoven).

If the Packers win today, drive around Lambeau Field after the game. Now that will be crazy. :)

Oh I did. And around Washington Street downtown. CHAOS. It was awesome.

I posted all videos to twitter. Crazy fun.

Congrats to friends that are Packers friends. Sucks for me, but happy for you as much as it sucks.

From the heart:

Congrats, guys. I had been saying most of the season that the Packers are dangerous, and even during the last weeks I had been saying that IF the Packers made the playoffs, they'd make a serious run. It's true I wished it wouldn't happen, but it did.

And no matter how much I hate, have hated, and will always hate the Packers, it is a franchise I respect for their tradition, history, and blue-collar reputation as an organization. But I reiterate, I still hate you *ers.

Enjoy it. You might get to enjoy it for more than a year, although I hope not, for more than one reason. ;)

If I have to choose between calling them the defending champs a little longer or an on-time start to the season with the possibility of not retaining the title the choice is easy. Between the owners getting paid TV money regardless if there is a season and the players not truly feeling the pinch until they start missing paychecks in September I'm not horribly optimistic this will get done by August 1st for business as usual.
