Packers 2010 Regular Season - ARodg and Woody in Clay-mation

"Ultra violence" seems extreme. It's still enough to show the (lack of) class of Chicago fans, enough to tick me off and enough to make me glad that I cheer for a team where the worst you usually see is a bunch of drunken yelling.

One of my buddies (Vikes fan; DESPISES anything WI/Packers, it's almost irrational) went to the MN@Chi game last year, and he said they were the worst fans he's ever encountered. Nothing physical, thankfully, but it came close. He was constantly harassed (and not in a fun taunting way) and he did see fights break out, caused by Bears fans. He was shocked, because he didn't even come close to expecting that. In his words, "That's the sh* you hear about in Oakland and Philly, not Chicago!"

Things like that are just sad. One of those "what is wrong with people?" moments, and it has nothing to do with who was playing who in which city. It's ridiculous regardless of where it happens. Anyone who puts that much emotional investment into sporting events they can't control needs help*

* (My desire to see Seattle napalmed into oblivion does not fall under the purview of the preceding, as it's not a sports-specific issue. Rather, it's that anything at all that can inflict more misery and depression on the residents of that damp patchouli-soaked hanging carpet they call a city is something I can get behind. If sports happen to be the catalyst, so be it. Let's just make sure there's enough oxidizer on hand)

Agreed. I mean, I hate Packers fans and all, but they're just loud and obnoxious. :p They don't try and start fights, in general, from my experience.

And I love me some good-natured taunting. It's part of the experience of being a sports fan. When it turns serious, yeah, you lost me. A prime example is during UND-MN week, Bro Gin and I have an agreement that we don't say a kind word to one another. We hate each other that week. Same with one of my best friends who's a Packers fan. MN-GB week? It's vile. But we know it's all in the name of the rivalry, nothing more.

I wish people could realize that borderline, and maybe we wouldn't hear about crap like this. Then again, these same people usually end up in the Nice Planet thread.

Go Pack! I'm hoping that rapist doesn't get another super bowl win.

Illinois man gets fired for wearing Packers tie at work
A suburban Chicago car salesman apparently went too far in celebrating the Green Bay Packers victory over the Chicago Bears.

The general manager of John Webb Chevrolet in Oak Lawn fired him Monday for wearing a Packers tie at work.

John Stone, 34, told WGN-TV that his grandmother, who recently died, was from Chicago, but she loved the Packers.

General Manager Jerry Roberts told the television station that there’s no specific policy against wearing green-and-gold gear, but the dealership has had advertising campaigns featuring the Bears.

Stone was happy to don the tie for WGN’s camera. “I love you, Grandma, and I love the Packers,” he said.

I agree completely. Everytime I see that slob I think about what a pathetic adolescence jerk he is.

Normally, I'm up on such statistics, but a friend of mine observed that Favre is the first quarterback in NFL history to record his own sack.

It's funny because it works on two levels. Remember when he laid down for Strahan.

Re: Packers 2010 Regular Season - ARodg and Woody in Clay-mation

some gems from a jsonline blog post

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is tied for the most well-liked player in the National Football League (29%), with Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to the survey, Americans are rooting for the Packers (45%-39%) over the Steelers.

Not to be outdone, Zoosk, an online social dating community, has completed a survey of Super Bowl trends.

It turns out, according to the survey, that most women would prefer to watch the Super Bowl than have sex. Men are divided: half prefer to have sex. Half want to watch the game.

The majority of men in the survey are rooting for the Packers. And the majority of women are rooting for the Steelers.

Survey respondents also were asked to name the most romantic city in the country that had an NFL team. Sorry, Packers fans. Green Bay finished last.

Zoosk surveyed more than 1000 singles.

So McCarthy did not even receive one vote for COY. Not one. That is just sad if you ask me.

That was pathetic. Morris did a nice job, I understood all the votes he got. GB overcame way more than NE did, and got further, but the dope from NE wins.

Anyone else concerned MM is going to get too conservative in the 4th quarter if the Pack is winning and that will allow Ben to bring the Steelers back for a win? MM has played very conservative with the lead this yr, except in Atlanta in the playoffs. He nearly pead the Bears game away.

Hopefully he does not choose this route. A champion does not play to lose and will most likely reflect in the final score. Go Pack!

It's a regular season award...playoffs have nothing to do with it.
