Oswego State Lakers 2024-25...young guns a'blazin....Let's Go Lakers...

I think Coach will have some hard decisions on who to plays. All of the new young men played with a lot of hustle last night. From the goalie play last night I think Triple Z looked the best. There is lots of work to be done for the first 5 games. Naz was the better team in the first but after that the Lakers found a mojo pill or something and then started to play. Lots of big hits for both teams. The only thing I can say for sure is the the 4 blind mice are in regular season form. Just BAD. How does one call a goal when everyone in the center saw the Naz net off and the stripe calls it a goal when he is looking right at the play down the end line????? Ed has a lot to do before the slaughter starts next weekend in Geneva.

I would imagine it's going to be hard to figure out the line-up for the start of the season, but thats why they get paid the big bucks....Lots of hustle and hitting for sure, but will it manifest into lighting the lamp?? I have said it for yrs, don't like the sit back and watch Pk in D3 hockey ,even in the pros many teams use the aggressive approach..Lets hope the zebras get their act together,it is pre-season for them as well..ugh...As far as net minding I would imagine it's Milbergs net to start the season...Ok best of luck and ...Let's Go Lakers!!!......good to have DIII on board was gonna ask where you were..

While I think milsy was always going to be the starter zz has cemented himself as the backup for now at least. did mccarthy let in 2 softies? yes. were they both on the PK and the team didnt really do him any favors? also yes. those 2 have plenty of time to battle it out frankly i was just happy all 3 goalies were dressed tonight and that the backups are more than capable against the weaker teams on our schedule. they also got hit a lot more than doing the hitting but that will come with time and more days in the weight room. They for sure have the skills to at least compete with the best but i dont think theyre gonna beat hobart or adrian to start the season. I think the true litmus test will be elmira as they also lost 6 out of their top 8 scorers including the top 3 with at least 12 new guys.

OK so we have the back to back National Champions,Hobart#1, Fri night in Geneva ,then Elmira#10 ,sat night, then next weekend Adrian#3 who beat the USNTDP team 5-3 last weekend, and then Platty#9 for Whiteout weekend....lets just say we will be tested, better lace'em up tight boys .......Let's Go Lakers!!!!!.....ow p.s.we also have 19 new faces on the team:p:p:p:p

That's insane.

Well, um.... "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you ..... stronger?"

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

A couple of thoughts prior to the start of the season:

Why didn't one senior stay behind? Not 1? I know at least five are still playing in the pros.

Why didn't any D1 transfers come in with 15 seniors leaving?

Here we go, hang on!

I can see the seniors leaving if they are not pursuing a masters degree.......We have had many D1 transfers at Oz,was curious why we didnt get any as well, you figure with sooooo many spots open it would be very inviting to them?????....Ok bart tonight....Lets go lakers!!!!!

Cultural reset. The last group of guys simply didnt have what it took mentally to win anything. Get a large group of freshman who dont know any better and give them a fresh slate to teach them. Some of them will surely transfer out. Thats when you get the transfers to flll in and buy into the system. Hopefully getting absolutely destroyed their 1st 3 games will teach them lessons that last the rest of their careers, they sure as heck aint gonna have a winning record going into whiteout.

Well lets hope we compete this weekend, will be interesting to see the Line-ups...will suck because I cant watch the game tonight ,prior engagement:mad::mad::mad:...Let's go Lakers!!!!

Honestly way better effort than I expected. Hobart was the better team in the 1st but the 2nd and 3rd were a dead heat. It was a one goal game the entire time until we decided to pressure and cherry pick at the end to try and get the gtg and got bit 2x. With Elmira losing to naz at home both tonight then and the Adrian game just got a whole lot more interesting

looks like we kept it close, tough place to playin, off to The Campus Center tonight vs, The Soaring Eagles......Go Lakers!!!!

Yeah, we did better than expected. First 10 minutes were "Holy cr@p!", but once we caught our breath and settled down it was pretty even- which is good news against that team. It was a one goal game for the most part, and some late penalties that weren't called. Good opening showing against the repeat Div III champs. Go team!

What a great game. I thought a bit of an edge to the Lakers but Elmira played very well also. These type of games I wish of the old days where you play the 60 minutes and that is it. Neither team deserves a win or a loss. A tie is a great way to have the game end. I think this is my first ever hockey game where there was no score after 60. McCarthy at times looked lost with some of the shots. The one thing I really liked about his game was in the shoot out where he was 8-10 ft out of the net challenging the shooter, where as Haynes did not. McCarthy took some of the shooters ice away from them and they had to rethink about what they were going to do. The level of play for the Lakers was really surprising good for having 17 new players on the team. Coach G has a good trouble on his plate and that is who to play? Paone, #81, and Haughian, #2, are really playing good defense for the Lakers and have learned Coach's style very quickly. Hopefully these young men can bring back the good ole
Oswego Great Lakers. It would be great to hear Denny say that one more time. Spoke him 2 weeks ago and he was doing great. And the men in stripes were actually very good tonight. Another big test next weekend.

Just what everyone expected a 0-0 tie (oswego won the shootout for morale). does 1-1-1 still potentially count as a winning record? as least mccarthy got a shutout it seems we have 2 capable backups for the season which is good.

Not a bad weekend, thought this may be a disaster with all the new faces. As for last nights tilt, it was a tight checking game with 2 teams who really dont seem to have too much offensive talent,I think this may be the problem this season, lighting the lamp, we also shot a few to many pucks wide from my computer view?? The D looked good and net minding did the job, don't remember any oddment rushes for either team??Well the schedule does not get any ezr,the next one will be a great test for sure....Go Lakers!!!.....Just a HEADS UP,next sat. game is a 3pm start.......

That loss can be attributed entirely to the coaching staff. Starting your freshman backup against the #2 team in the nation because he shut out a team that lost to naz is beyond stupid. forget the fact we outscored them 2-1 with milsy in net, mccarthy made an awful decision with playing the puck that took all the momentum and air out of this team. Huge credit to the players for players for battling back cause otherwise this looked like a dead heat between the 2 teams a lot of the game. there were a lot more adrian bodies on the ground during play. that is one positive from this game these guys mentally (for the most part) are better than the last group of guys, this game last year wouldve been 7-1 easily. evem with an 0-2-1 record they look way better than what i thought they were going to be this team can compete with anyone which is not something i thought b4 the season started

Sort of agree with the Lord Z in that McCarthy cost us a goal with his terrible puck play for Adrian
s first goal. I don't have a problem starting a freshmen but he didn't look dominate in his shut out. As I mentioned in the Elmira game he looked lost on shots at times. Their second goal was a result of the trailer not covering his man. The first period we were the better team for 18 minutes. That is why you have to play all 20 of them. Couple of bright spots I thought. Our board work was great, the team effort was great, the d played well. Adrian's goalie looked like he has been in tough games and it showed. We just couldn't score on our chances which I think we had more of and Adrian did on theirs. The Lakers just need to get off the scorning snide. For them not to be scoring with the play they are showing does not reflect what is how well they are playing for a team with so many new faces. The teams that we have played so far might be lucky to have played Oswego when they did, for they have not jelled yet, and they have been every game so far. That will be fun to watch when they do. # 5 are you going to be in town next weekend?
