didnt get to watch the games this weekend,but from the videos the laers loo pretty good vs cort and dominating vs Elmira,big surprise...any i njuries this weekend,didnt see RJBerra in the stat sheet sat night,healthy scratch?? any idea on how this kid looks,had a nice jr career in BC??

Gotta be your internet, obviously a 9 minute video is going to take some time to load on a less than great internet connection. And obviously, the full game file is 1 hr 45 +

The handshake is a Whitelaw, Moodie, Rodrigues thing and I see nothing wrong with it. They are loose and having fun out there which is good because I was worried the team might be too uptight this season with the events of the past three years. If it gets to the point that it looks like it is becoming a detriment to the team I am sure they will stop it or Eddie will make them.

It's back up with new (clarified) rules and the same management...that is all I am authorized to share.....

And no, it is not me or any current student...

Will do, but be sure to bookmark the broadcast archives page because it will be difficult for you to get to there without seeing the score elsewhere on our site.

Yes I know you do Mike, the WNYO guys have been fantastic for a while now. The only trouble is that it doesn't sync with the WTOP video feed. What should be done (and I know it will never happen) is WNYO should do ALL of the audio, and just have someone from WTOP do intermission reports (other than the three who were doing it for the Elmira game, those guys were terrible). But keep up the good work Mike and the rest of the guys at WNYO.

Two different skill sets- two different agendas - a radio call with pictures does not make a good television broadcast - just like a television call with no pictures is no way to do radio...

RANT ALERT - As for your opinion regarding the students who were working the Elmira game pre, post and in-game...lets try to remember they are students...they are somebody's sons - they may not have the polish or experience of Mike, Chris or the other student broadcasters in who's footsteps they follow, but they are putting themselves out there, doing their best and will improve as the season progresses...let's try to keep that in mind the next time you share an opinion...OK? I'm LakerEagleLover and I approve this message.:D:D:D

PS - If you really want to listen to the radio call and watch the video feed, it can be synched up with some luck and a little practice...hit the video pause button and then play after counting to 8 or so....you might have to fine tune it after that.

Osuhockey is entitled to his opinion as you are too. But, you always seem to be about bullying your way to preventing constructive criticism from coming out. But, this issue is nothing new. Hopefully it doesn't take up 2-3 pages like it did last year of back and forths . :D Hopefully we can just stick to hockey I have learned just keep my opinions on those matters to myself on here. Osuhockey I would suggest doing the same lol.

Standing up for kids who are being trashed...that makes ME the bully???:confused::confused::confused: If that's the case then I can live with that.:cool:

They get plenty of feedback from me after every broadcast. Its not always pretty, but its private, delivered to support their personal and professional growth. I have mentored dozens of Oswego student broadcasters while they are in school and after graduation. I am sure they would welcome feedback from you and osuhockey and anyone else that takes an interest in their career development - so don't be shy, just be constructive...:D:D:D While you're at it, join me in writing a check every year to the WNYO and WTOP Excellence Fund...putting your money where your mouth is another way to support the best student broadcasters in any division.

I believe last year I provided constructive criticism and you didn't take kindly to it. I'm glad now that you are open to allowing it. If they are going to develop as young professionals they need to hear from their audience, peers, and mentors to get better. I hardly took osuhockey's statement as trashing these "kids". And the bullying comment was directed towards your actions last year and you started to sound like that in your post to osuhockey. By the way how is money going to make them better? I don't want to turn this into a WNYO, WTOP war but just interested in your take on that. What does everyone think of the game on Saturday (of course we have a game tomorrow too, but Sat's seems like a slobber knocker)?:)

Last year is so...last year - seriously, no idea what you are referring to...have we met?:confused:

Always looking for help to provide constructive feedback for the kids (they really are kids)...and so are they...more points of view, the better. Happy to provide a way for you to do that...privately (who wants their performance review at work posted online for the world to see?) :eek:

Money - provides equipment purchases, rentals and repairs they can't afford in the SA approved budget...travel expenses (for example, NCAA in Minnesota) so they can fly instead of drive, stay in a real hotel and even eat...Conferences and professional development costs, entry fees for competitions.... :cool:

You can take the annual gift you make to the school and direct it towards the Excellence Fund for WNYO or WTOP or both...a little goes a long way.:D

Just going to say this... He said he's okay with constructive criticism. Nobody who really wanted these guys to improve would be against giving them constructive criticism, of course. But there are two key things that make this different:

1. It's being posted publicly on an online forum. Constructive criticism is generally, as LEL said, a private thing. They're the ones who need to hear, not the rest of the world. Besides, there's every chance they never read these forums, so posting criticism here wouldn't help at all.

2. I'd have to say "they were terrible, don't let them do it again", while certainly being criticism, is anything but constructive. To be constructive criticism, you need to be specific: What did they do that you didn't like, or what did they not do that you should have done? How would you work to improve if you were them? If you don't answer those questions, your criticism is not constructive.


He was defending the kids who likely can't defend themselves on here from what he (understandably) perceived as a personal attack against them. Whether osuhockeyfan intended it or not, his post seems unnecessarily harsh on a group of young adults attending college and broadcasting this game as practice for a future in the news/sports media. Defending them against that is definitely now a case of bullying.



That is all. Now I will go crawl back under the rock from whence I came.
