How could I forget Gertsakis, I have been completely impressed with the kid since the first game he played. He is fast and he likes to join in the rush but he has also been solid on the back end. He has made some mistakes but being a Freshman that is to be expected.

yeah, we had a pretty good recruiting class this year. They will definitely help the team for years to come.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

For the last several weeks the 9-5 line has been the best one for the Lakers. It is a tremendous advantage to have your 3rd line produce as it has been doing. The 9-5 line hs picked up a lot with the drop in the Boots line. Titantic brought alot of hype with him as a frosh and he is now living up to it. The other suprise in Gertsakis with him being playing more consistanly. It would be nice to see Hare bounce back with a big game.

Totally agree, both the 9-5 line is playing well, and the Gerk kid looks good with the puck, and they also have had him on the powerplay, he is VERY aggressive in the Offensive zone ,but he has to remember he is Dman first as he may get caught on a few of those pinches he does, and the forwrds on the ice have to know about that and the fact that he will, and he does now skate the puck up and they have to cover for him....that said he looks to be a Tom Mcfall type of player,my defensive partner who was fun to play with.. Titanic is skilled with the puck .lets hope he doesnt fall into that make the perfect pass as some of these players do,Leimbrocks 5th goal vs B'port was a perfect example of just shoot it ON NET and see what happens...all in all we look good, and have a nice schedule coming up cannot wait to go to Oz for the platts/pots weekend.....anymore Mather news...??

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

come on prez look at your last 2 classes,UGH any team would kill for those guys, and thats without the Schoeder boys sp??

It's been the running joke on here for a few years now that Oswego has the best recruiting class in the country on paper every season. Just like Michigan on the D-I side. ;)

we're 16-2-2, it could be more than just on paper
Agreed. Oswego has a tremendous thing going for them with international aid that makes them very tough to beat considering the location and quality of the rink along with the nice foreign aid package. There is a reason why they have 20+ canadians every year.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I think its 5-0-1, unless I'm missing one

3/7/2009 4-5 OT Loss

11/7/2009 5-2 Win
1/30/2010 3-2 Win
3/6/2010 6-3 Win
11/6/2010 5-3 Win
1/29/2011 4-3 Win
12/2/2011 2-2 Tie

Couldn't remember if it was 5-0-1 or 6-0-1...you're right.

Oswego was 1-10-1 against Plattsburgh while I was there...

He has the skill set and the mind set from what I see so far,and they have confidence in him as well or he wouldnt have had a few chances on the Powerplay from what I have seen so far...bottomline lets hope he stays healthy and he will be a great addition..

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I've seen Smrke and Beckwith at the last few away games, but I haven't seen Mather, my guess is its not an injury and hes in the dog house. He has played 15 games and has 12 penalties with 51 PIM. The next closest guy as far as Penalty minutes goes is Leimbrock who played in 20 games and has 27 PIM.

Mather is a good player, but I'm glad to see Gosek put his foot down, and it seems to be working, over the last 4 games we've averaged 7.5 penalty minutes per game, compared to our season average of 18.6. definitely a step in the right direction

Mather was at both games this weekend. Not sure how you missed him he was sitting next Beckwith on Saturday. As far as being in the dog house I'm not buying it. Yes he has taken a few poor penalties but I'm sure Coach Gosek would want his Senior Captain on the ice for the stretch run if he was able to be.
