Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Mather was at both games this weekend. Not sure how you missed him he was sitting next Beckwith on Saturday. As far as being in the dog house I'm not buying it. Yes he has taken a few poor penalties but I'm sure Coach Gosek would want his Senior Captain on the ice for the stretch run if he was able to be.

I didn't see Beckwith when he was seated, saw him walking around.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I've seen Smrke and Beckwith at the last few away games, but I haven't seen Mather, my guess is its not an injury and hes in the dog house. He has played 15 games and has 12 penalties with 51 PIM. The next closest guy as far as Penalty minutes goes is Leimbrock who played in 20 games and has 27 PIM.

Mather is a good player, but I'm glad to see Gosek put his foot down, and it seems to be working, over the last 4 games we've averaged 7.5 penalty minutes per game, compared to our season average of 18.6. definitely a step in the right direction
I would imagine you cannot miss Smrke:eek:

Lakers must stay out of the box the rest of the way...

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Nice to see P-Rod break out with 5 goals (3 PPG) last night as he had just wrong into bad luck on chances most of the year. He has had some very good lucks and at times he has looked discouraged, but I think that feeling is gone now. It couldn't have happened at a better time either and it seems as though Boots is starting to get out of his slump with goals in the last two games. The powerplay was clicking last night as well at a 40% conversion rate unlike what we have seen out of that unit this season.

Any word on Mather?
Mather looked real good out there last night after looking so bad in the last three games he played. He hit a least one post and was completely robbed by Breen on another.

Rodder's 5 goals came from a grand total of about six feet in front of the net. The fourth was on a beautiful pass by Moodie. Whitelaw was the recipient of an equally beautiful pass from Rodrigues for his goal. And Muise put an even better pass by Boots in on his goal. In the games where they have struggled Oswego's passing has held them back, that was not the case last night.

Morrisville is just a bad hockey team. They have a decent bit of skill but have zero discipline and that cost them in this one. They turned the game against Cortland into a street fight so they were physically drained before the game even started and when Oswego came out flying they were done. Azzano was awful in the first period and Breen was better but I don't really think it mattered.

So bad they tied Oz at Home!! With the investigation and outcome I think it has taken the life out of Morrisville. I am sure they knew what was coming down LONG before it became public and has had an effect on over half of the season.

What's that old cliche?

Even the sun shines on a dog's a** some days.

That tie was the combination of what was probably Oswego's worst effort of the season (I still blame the yellow alternates :D) and a fantastic game by Breen. He was standing on his head most of that game. If Oswego had played the first 40 minutes like they had played the last 20, it probably would have been a much different outcome.

I love the Morrisville player who slammed his stick down so hard after Rodrigues' 3rd goal that he almost fell down. Got to be tough for them this year. Great video, as always!

Couldn't remember if it was 5-0-1 or 6-0-1...you're right.

Oswego was 1-10-1 against Plattsburgh while I was there...

Just getting caught up on some light reading!! :) Hmmmmmmm 1-10-1, Perhaps we should not have let you in the building while you were here?????

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I havn't seen it mentioned but if my math is correct both Oswego and Plattsburgh have wrapped up home ice and first round vacations. Buff State and Fredonia can only manage 19 points whie Plattsburgh and Oswego have 21 and 22 with their wins and the others loss. Either way the Finals will be played at the Stafford after Plattsburgh beats Oswego in two weeks or when Oswego loses in the Semi finals....again :-) jk congrats to both teams, again. Thank god the Lakers return home so I can finally watch some good hockey on the net again.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

If one can yell "They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard" during a game at Morrisville, its somewhat disappointing. Even us as visitors couldn't really whoop it up because of the morgue-like atmosphere (Donald Mallard poked his head in for a moment). I remember a rowdy shirtless crowd from years past that Oswego fans could get into shouting matches with. Either they've graduated, leaving behind no voice in their collective wake, or the fans are avoiding hockey like the plague, fearing that uttering a single loud word would make the roof cave in. Interesting mascot - definitely one of the better looking ones, imo. Can skate with a flag and animates well. Not much more can be added about the game. Morrisville was gassed, and the Lakers methodically picked them apart.

It's a staring contest with the Birds now - I feel better about us being at home for the next 2 tilts while Platty takes a long ride, but it's beginning to look like another classic match for top dog coming up in PSU v OSU.

At least the Platty fans will be able shush to those loud, ruffian fans in their own barn while sipping their tea with their pinkies out during the semis. ::D

Perhaps some crocheting patterns and bridge club discussions intermingled with those tea and crumpet sessions.

Got my 3 tiks for both games, smack dab in the middle of section 53, "behind the bench" of the Birds, should be some fun INTERACTION with the cards fans,IF they show-up:eek:, Im sure Ill run into Loudhorns and hope that the smoke alarm doesnt go off again. ....Big weekend coming up,we Cannot look ahead we need ALL the pts, and Buff St just took Platty to 1-0 in Plattys barn so we know they have game........and HOW BOUT THOSE GIANTS!!!!!!!!

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I think our group alone has about 24 seats in section 53...so you should be able to find a few around.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I bought tickets back when they went on sale in September or October as a backup plan, I'm going to try and get tickets in the student section if I can. If I do I may have 2 extra tickets in section 53.
