Re: Oswego Playoffs 2011

Re: Oswego Playoffs 2011

With spring break starting Friday and the dorms closing 8am Saturday, the student section is likely to be skinny...

Wish the Prez could have been there for a guest in-game analyst! We'll have to meet you put in Minnesota at the Ridder instead I guess!!
You really think they'd want you back on WTOP? ;)

as mentioned, WNYO will have coverage Saturday as well and in Minneapolis if the Lakers advance... just wanted to throw it in

As is always the case.

If only a live video webcast took one person and a phone line. ;)

On ward marches the Presidential Three!

Just curious, who are the alumni that are coming to help out?

Only if it's Oswego vs Adrian

A heads up to Laker fans, Phil Brewer will be going to D1 Bemijdi State rather than Oswego. Of course we could still see him in the Green and Gold in the future with the way things have been going lately.

That's unfortunate. It seemed to good to be true...

That's the problem with kids that light it up in junior in their last year and make "commitments" to D-III schools. They are non-binding and kids can get out of it with no penalty and just go take the D-I scholly money and run.

That's too bad. Was really looking forward to seeing him next year.

Just remember, blood runs thicker than water.....2 Jensens are better then 1 :)

Tough loss for Oswego, but I'm sure we will see a few more on the way...

Figured that would happen, he "committed" too early to Oswego.

Kind of knew that, as the kid who was behind him in pts was a 5th round NHL choice of Fla...and yes we will get others and ya never know he may be back.......:D

Re: Oswego 2011 Playoff and Offseason Thread: Hips and Nips or We Don't Win!

Well, here's what I saw last night. First, I was in very impressed with the crowd. I was half expecting to see a mostly empty student section. It wasn't. It was probably two thirds full. The crowd was very much into the game the whole time. I wish they had announced the attendance. If if I had to guess, I would say probably close to 2500... so a very good crowd on hand.

I also find it funny how Mr. Foley had to make it sound like he wasn't in favor of either team. I know that's an NCAA rule or something like that, but it was still kind of interesting to hear him giving Bowdoin the same calls he was giving Oswego.

As for the game itself, oswego really came out strong in the first. Fast skating, good passing, hard hits. I think they played a very good game despite giving up five goals. David Titanic is going to be a stud for this team. He played by far his best game of the season. The defense was okay. They still had a couple of bad turnovers in their own zone, and that's something they're really going to have to work on when they play Adrian. Beckwith did not play his best game of the season, far from it. Bowdoin has a very good team, and a very good offense. But Beckwith let through easily three very bad goals. There was one in the first, where one of the Bowdoin players was near the boards, and he just turned around and flung the puck toward the net and it went in. Another Beckwith let the puck though an opening between his legs so big you could drive a truck through it. That really never should've happened. But you can't fault the defense for everything. Like I said, Bowdoin has a very good team. They played a very good game, and gave us we go a run for their money. Now we have two weeks to get in shape for Adrian. I really wish I was making the trip to Minnesota.

Close... 1962 would be my guess though...;)

It was to bad that Bowdin had some banged up players thanks to Neumann. It would have been great to have a full strength Bowdin team. Maybe next year Bowdin can have their hand at another SUNY team in the NCAA's. I think they are tired to traveling to Oswego.
Good Luck in Minnesota

There must have been more empty seats on the side that I was sitting on then. Looking across the ice, it looked pretty full. There was one general admission section at the north end that was completely empty. Still a good crowd though, considering the students were gone.

Re: Oswego 2011 Playoff and Offseason Thread: Hips and Nips or We Don't Win!

great game by the Lakers, and the bears, a lot of action both skating, hitting and goals of course..what I really noticed was the great job the lakers did on the faceoffs, they usaly are not the best at it, but they were top shelf last night....Not gonna beat up Beck but there were several soft goals as I saw them on the web, perhaps in person not as bad, but he is aloud a bad game and lets hope this was the last this yr..the Lakers picked him up everytime with go ahead goals..One thing the D has to work on is defensive zone coverage, they D men have to have their heads on a swivel, several times there were bears in front of the net unguarded, resulting in goals and chances ...they have to have the offensive players sticks accounted for, that is when he is considered covered....The biggest thing was the fact that they shot the puck and chased it, resulting in many chances and wearing down a goalie who made about 40 or so saves, this works and keep it up......there was some serious banging out there but most clean GREAT JOB GUYS and lets get ready for some dogs, they are a seasoned team, with many seniors who are almost on social security lol......

BAKDRAFT: I ran into Don Unger last night and he is trying to get a 25 reunion of the 1987 team together. Expect a message from him if you haven't alread gotten one. Fitgerald, Al Heerdt, Stearker, and it looked like Sean Green was at the game last night. All looked like they could have put on the skates and went at it. I think the team could use the Lakers 50 goal scorer, Fitty, against Adrian.
