Oscars 2012: Jonah Hill... Oscar Nominee?

Re: Oscars 2012: Jonah Hill... Oscar Nominee?

What was with introducing the nominees by first name and all? Rather confusing

Re: Oscars 2012: Jonah Hill... Oscar Nominee?

You told me? I dont remember discussing this with you ;)

I love Meryl so I am fine with her winning. There is no one better.

I mentioned that Streep would win at the beginning of the thread. I should have been more clear: it was the royal "you" I was referring to. :)

Re: Oscars 2012: Jonah Hill... Oscar Nominee?

Rooney is going to get screwed out of an Oscar. Dam you, Meryl (although I haven't see "The Iron Lady," because I heard it was a sh* movie with Streep having an outstanding performance).

And very surprised that "The Girl With..." didn't even make the cut for Best Picture.

I am arrogant there is no one else but ME :D

Re: Oscars 2012: Jonah Hill... Oscar Nominee?

A few thoughts:

Hadn't yet seen the Artist. Is it a worthy best picture? I don't know why, but it seemed a little gimmicky to me before awards season started, so I never made the effort to seek it out.

Did Nick Nolte eat Orson Welles' remains?

Jolie has absolutely lost whatever slim touch of reality she had.

Jason Segel seemed awfully excited to see his pet project walk away with an/any Oscar. Dude LOVES the Muppets.

Re: Oscars 2012: Jonah Hill... Oscar Nominee?

I've read so many good things about A Separation. It should prompt me to see it, but I don't know if I can sit through a foreign language film.
It made me want to stab the director. "Yes, I'm sure you're a genius of domestic tragedy. Ibsen has nothing on you. Oh, look -- a child's tears."

Basically, instead of seeing it just go to an adult day care and wash an old man's genitals. You will get all the movie has to offer.

Rooney was behind at least two other women for the Oscar so she was FAR from getting screwed.

They are really pounding going to theaters.
They're capitalists; you would think they would be able to realize that they're bringing this on themselves with higher ticket prices.

I have too, but never got around to seeing it.
The Oscars are wonderful when someone is genuinely moved.
Agreed.
Why is the descendants a favorite for best picture?
It was really good, though I don't think it was really a favorite.
Chris Rock needs to host this again. He was very funny.
Heck yeah. I don't think they'll hire him because he doesn't kiss butt like Billy Crystal does. I'm surprised he was able to do the stuff about how easy being in animated movies is.
Christopher Plummer for the WIN!!
Well deserved.
Agreed here as well. Beginners was really good. Plummer is now a Grammy away from the EGOT. Someone get that man some sort of album deal!
Rooting pretty hard for Bret McKenzie here.

SWEET!
YAY! I was sad that he didn't thank Jemaine in his speech though.
Oh yay, Midnight in Paris won Best Original Screenplay! That was a beautiful movie.
Agreed on this as well.
Loved The Dean mocking Angie's ridiculous pose while on stage next to her. That was awesome.
And this.
I think I'm a little bit in love with Jean Dujardin. I really need to see that movie.
I've gotta admit, he's a handsome dude.

I haven't seen it either, but I don't understand how anyone at all is surprised that it won. It already won the BAFTA award and the Golden Globe, and, more importantly, Hollywood loves movies about Hollywood.

Seems gimmicky to me too.

I thought he may have stolen Gary Busey's pysche.

Hers makes me question Brad Pitt's.
