Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

Hjelle will get most of the games already playing two NCAA seasons. Skoff isn't a true freshman because he is a year out of highschool and they will look to develop him. Feel bad for michaels. I don't think he will ever get a sniff at a start.

Skoff is 2 yrs out of HS

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

According to LSSU coach Jim Roque, the Buckeyes and Lakers play each other four times next season (2011-2012).

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

Serge Somma on the Chicago Wolves Roster
Congratulations Serge....well deserved.

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

Way to go, Serge!

2 down, 7 (or 8?) to go... :D It would be great to see all the outgoing seniors in pro sweaters next year (this year for that matter).

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

If the story on the front page is true things will get a little more interesting next week with Big Ten hockey possibly becoming a reality.

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

Still have mixed feelings about Big Ten Hockey. There's good and some bad. Teams are going to have to step up a little since only Michigan made the tourney this year.

My one hope is that the series with Miami and Bowling Green continue. I love those games. With 20 conference games (10 two game sets) that leaves at least 12 more games. BG and Miami will save on travel costs, and one thought off the top of my head is that they schedule each team as a home/away weekend annually. I know we rarely win in Oxford, but I love going to games there, and when BG gets their program back in order it will be fun to go there again.

Note to masquedman - nice link to the blog posting about Cal Heeter. Good stuff.

I have my doubts about the Big Ten Hockey conference as well but i do like the idea of seeing Wisconsin and Minnesota in columbus and getting to go see those arenas. Ive been to Minnesota once but never to Wisconsin. I hope this may spark interest to get a hockey only building going. I too would like to see the series with Miami and BG keep going Bg is really close to my house and i like going to Miami's arena.

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

Things getting a little crowded this fall.:)

from this morning's Omaha.com describing Saturday's Omaha Lancers win over Youngstown.

Then Omaha native Nick Oddo – who earlier in the day committed to play next season at Ohio State – gave the Lancers the lead for good with his 21st goal of the season. The goal came courtesy of a spot-on cross-ice pass from teammate and roommate Bryce Johnson, and Aaron Ave earned a secondary assist at 13:36.

Found this week old article on Oddo.....

Very crowded...this is going to be interesting...

Here is another Oddo article, evidently one time rated highly enough to be ranked by CSB, an early UNO commit, and it appears a combination of coaching change and perhaps lack of development caused UNO to pull the scholarship....

I wonder if our friend who is so concerned about OZ running people off will take it upon himself to carry on a one man campaign against Blais and UNO over this one...

Re: Ohio State - It's officially the off-season

one more article on a future Puck Buck

The Honeybaked Midget Major hockey team has had a lot of success this season, and much of that is because of the Blue Water Area.

The team, which features four local products -- Nick Schilkey, Brett D'Andrea and BJ Kolcz of Marysville, and Alex Archibald of Port Huron -- will compete starting Wednesday in the 18-and-Under Tier 1 National Tournament in Simsbury, Conn.

"All four guys have had moments where they've done really well for us," Honeybaked coach Steve Dickinson said. "They've been big parts of the team, and their development and improvement has been great for us."

Schilkey, who has committed to Ohio State, leads the team in points with about 90, Dickinson said. D'Andrea, who has committed to Bowling Green, has about 70 points, Kolcz has 40, and Archibald, who played much of the season on defense, has 20. All of those totals are estimates.

That stuff is pretty old. Vilardo de-committed to OSU some time ago and Travis was on the team this year.

FWIW 2011 incoming goalie Matt Skoff recorded his 6th shutout of the season for Sioux City last night tying the franchise record held by Mike Betz. :D

Can't wait to see Cristofolio, although with that kind of frame he should be playing goalie! :D
