The problem is booking flights, when you don't know where the teams are originating from. It would likely work out fairly well as several teams would fly out of MSP, but you don't know who is coming until the quarters are complete.The logistics are planned out well before 4 days out ...
My guess is that they would schedule one in Columbus to be consistent after having a tourney in Bemidji and two in Grand Forks. Worst case scenario would be the Buckeyes getting knocked off in the quarters, as they sometimes were before Muzzy changed the fortunes of the program. That's what it was like in Bemidji, but at least UND reached the final that year. There isn't a second WCHA program anywhere close to Columbus, so that's partly why it isn't an attractive destination for a conference tournament on a frequent basis.
