Ohio State Buckeyes 2022-2023 ... The Drive For Duluth

Be prepared for the hosts to pump up the suspense of seeing who made the tournament despite anyone who has followed this knowing exactly what the bracket would be.

Yeah, I thought I had the bracket completely picked. The only thing I screwed up was I thought our regional would be 8 vs 9 (Quinnipiac vs Clarkson) instead of Quinnipiac vs Penn State, but I am fine with the way things worked out. It's going to be a huge challenge to repeat but it will be a fun ride. They say it is harder to stay on top of the mountain than it is to get there, although us Ohio State fans might debate that considering how long it took us to get to the top of the mountain.

Quinny/Clarkson would have been an ECAC vs. ECAC match-up. Very glad to see the NCAA honor its commitment to avoid intra-conference match-ups in the first round.

As it happens, I was hoping they'd do exactly what they did. It will be cool to see Central Ohio native Izzy Heminger compete for Penn State.

Go Buckeyes, of course.

I nominate Muzzy for the head coach position for the UW men's team. Muzzy has built a program and that is what the UW men need. Hopefully someone important reads this.

Can’t remember if I mentioned this but I heard her on a podcast saying she’d be up for coaching team USA one day. So men’s Wisco needs to get in line.

.

Fantastic bracket, and yea Heminger playing either her final games or one of her last games back in her home town is a very cool story. To my knowledge she was one of the first if not the first Columbus girl to go D1.

That's right, I forgot about that. And yes, good on the NCAA for actually honoring the commitment to not have two conference teams play in the first round.

LOL, you're not getting Muzzy! I heard that Granato was let go. Wisconsin Men's Hockey and their fans have expectations and I completely understand the move. Hope your AD (is it still Barry Alvarez?) finds someone to get the program going again.

Where did you hear that? I would be surprised at that considering Nadine is Canadian and has coached for Hockey Canada in the recent past. Coach Muzerall coaching Team USA? Yeah, I would totally like that! Funny statement, some guys were interviewing her recently and one of them asked her if she could get Marie Philip-Poulin to retire. (laugh emoji)

Barry retired a little over a year ago. Chris McIntosh, an offensive lineman on the back-to-back Rose Bowl winning teams who has been one of Barry's assistants over the last number of years is the 'new' AD.

(My niece's husband was a walk-on defensive lineman in their common freshman year; the description has been expanded to include McIntosh's name now, but he describes his job on the scout team as "get off a Chris McIntosh block and go tackle Ron Dayne." After a year, he decided to go play rugby instead. :-)

I was joking with Hockeybuckeye that we should go Thursday and root against Penn State like they did in the Frozen Four last season (their fans rooted against us in both games). Joking aside, I am just going to go watch some good hockey and see who we end up playing Saturday. I don't have a preference regarding who we play. Plus, our team will probably be there watching. I actually drug Mrs. 86 down to the ice rink last night to see if we could welcome the girls home and from what I was told, we missed them by 20 minutes. Anyway, should be fun. I guess some people were not able to get tickets to Saturday's game (sold out already). They were told to check with the fans of the team that loses Thursday's game and try to get tickets from them.

Thanks for the update on that. Kinda figured Barry was not still the AD, but was not sure who the new AD was. When I was a student at OSU (gonna date myself on this one), Elroy Hirsch was the AD for Wisconsin.

Yes I’m curious to see if Buckeye fans root against Penn State too!

Buckeye Talk Podcast. Context of the question was when are you going to coach Canada at the Olympics, and she was like well they have a pretty good coach already. (And he’s under contract through the next Olympics). She added her life is here so why not team USA?

l don’t think Team USA will go for it, hahahah.

I noticed that OSU announced more tickets are now available. Gonna cram the people in. Can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about that atmosphere.

Just guessing here. But I imagine these are tickets returned by Quinnipiac and/or Penn State from Visitor Allotments. If so, there can't be that many tickets involved. Considering going? Buy now, don't wait.

EDIT: It's Wednesday Afternoon, & Ticketmaster is still showing tickets available. Again, I recommend purchasing without delay.

Please don't be deceived by the premature "Sold Out" notice Ticketmaster put up on Monday. And remember that all tickets are General Admission. Tickets you buy today are just as good as the tickets that were sold back on Monday.

ADDITIONAL EDIT: It's Wednesday Evening, and now Ticketmaster is once again displaying a "Sold Out" notice for the Saturday game. Hope everyone on the thread got the tickets they needed.

Can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about that atmosphere.
Well, me too. I just hope that all sales were made to actual hockey people. As opposed to bots and scalpers.

Now I'm guessing that our event is simply too small to attract professional scalpers. (read: not enough money to be made) But it would be a terrible lose-lose situation if tickets went unclaimed in the secondary market.

We were not rooting for either team. I did see a couple of Knucklebucks (student cheering section) rooting for Quinnipiac, so I guess some people remembered the experience in Hockey Valley last season. Mrs 86 and I and Hockeybuckeye and his wife sat together and we just enjoyed the game. We were not cheering for or against either team.
